USC vs. Alabama Set for JerryWorld in 2016

By DJ Byrnes on July 16, 2014 at 12:23p

Alabama had no interest in traveling to East Lansing, so they scrapped their home-and-home series with Michigan State and added Western Kentucky.

Today, the other shoe dropped. Alabama will kickoff their 2016 campaign against Southern California, in Jerry Jones' monstrosity in Arlington, Texas.

It could be Lane Kiffin's first shot against the team that ruthlessly fired him in an airport parking lot, but given Lane Kiffin's career trajectory, he'll be coaching the Dallas Cowboys in 2016 (after being canned by Nick Saban).

I still can't believe Saban hired this clown

This would have been a fantastic match up back when Pete was the coach.

"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.

Guessing Alabama snail-mails a letter notice that the SEC has changed their schedule and are unable to follow through on the game.

Nothing like dancing on the field in 02...

Let's hope this in hopefully Kiffin doesn't land a head coaching gig somewhere else.

lol if kiffin is still there in 2016. I think he is a short stay at alabama. 1. He probably jumps at the first half decent job. or 2. Saban gets rid of his ass by then because the offense isn't getting and production. Just my opinion.

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, why do you hate the Cowboys so bad????????   As a Cowboys fan, I implore you to not even joke about that.    We already have one Kiffen on staff and as Defensive Coordinator last year he took the Cowboys to dead last in the NFL.  Jerry is a nitwit but I don't think even he would be that stupid.

Says a lot about Kiffin when you get fired in a parking lot. And Pat Haden is a class guy from what I know.

If he truly wanted revenge, he'd go coach there again.

Although these chickenshit SEC shenanigans is typical, it still pisses me off every time.

I live in SC. I've said it here before that they're still fighting the war here. They take that Mason Dixon line seriously.  Seriously.

I don't want to live in the south for so many reasons... How is your experience in SC?

It's actually very nice. Good weather and quality of life. Still some very backward, redneck stuff here, though.

Would you say that when you stick to larger metropolitan areas, people are more moderate/intelligent?

Nice to see this matchup regardless of the Lane Kiffin angle.  I'm still wondering though why an NFL venue in the B1G footprint doesn't start at Neutral Site matchup, like this one or the other one in Atlanta I think it is.  I know Wisky and LSU are scheduled to play at Lambeu, but that would be a pretty neat annual thing.  These other neutral site game are (surprise), just de facto home games for SEC teams, who get the benefit from the pollsters that they aren't technically homes games.

Anything to avoid playing in cold weather.

I hate neutral site games, teams like OSU, psu and *ichigan have no need for them since they hold 100k. They take away from the atmosphere and quite frankly I like showing off what Columbus has to offer and its good for local business.

Yeah, well…that’s just like, your opinion, man.
