Michigan Spent $2.01 Million on Trip to BW3's Bowl, Lost $132,000

Michigan got tattooed by Kansas State in the final rendition of the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, and it appears they also took quite the financial loss as well.

From MLive.com:

The U-M athletic department spent $2.01 million on its trip the 2013 Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, according to expense documents obtained by MLive.com via a public records request. Michigan came close to breaking even in expenditures, but wasn't quite there.

Ultimately, the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl left U-M roughly $132,000 in the red.

Oh, so close! Only $132,000 over budget!

Here's a point of reference, because folks tend to throw around ridiculous numbers in sports like they're literal peanuts: According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Michigan's median household income in 2009 was $45,255.

Or as Deadspin pointed out a while back, colleges just lie about this and they actually made a lot of money most likely:

2, 1...

Price of 20 wings at my local BW3 is 19.99. So at about a buck each, that loss equates to about 132,000 wings. Sounds about right.

It cost you $132K to get smacked by Kansas State...how f'd up does that sound? (FCS-like, I'd say)

Dave Brandon is going to get run out of that town, I just hope it's not too soon.

Dave Brandon is like the college version of Jerry Jones but even worse, I love it.

The conundrum is that he has veiled himself as a 'Michigan Man' so as to cover up any of his ineptitudes, so it will take quite a bit in my guesstimation to run him out of town.  I am too lazy to search for their annual report to see how much he has contributed to the overall athletic dept bottom line, but I have a hunch it ain't in the red or else it would have been in the news in some way, shape or form.

That said, it might come down to public dissension the likes of Earle Bruce's later years at OSU to get him to 'resign' - but then, what happens to the all important brand of being a 'Michigan Man'?  Maybe they would be left with 'Bo Schembechler Man' - but who has the balls to risk insulting a legend?!

How is it this is the first time I've seen this picture of a scUM bag getting pepper sprayed? Glorious photography.

If you look at that picture long enough you can see Hoke getting fatter.

I see Brandon more as a Rodney Dangerfield type.  :)
