Michigan got tattooed by Kansas State in the final rendition of the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, and it appears they also took quite the financial loss as well.
From MLive.com:
The U-M athletic department spent $2.01 million on its trip the 2013 Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, according to expense documents obtained by MLive.com via a public records request. Michigan came close to breaking even in expenditures, but wasn't quite there.
Ultimately, the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl left U-M roughly $132,000 in the red.
Oh, so close! Only $132,000 over budget!
Here's a point of reference, because folks tend to throw around ridiculous numbers in sports like they're literal peanuts: According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Michigan's median household income in 2009 was $45,255.
