When Pennsylvania backed out of the Big 33 Football Classic in 2012 (on a four-game skid, I might add), leadership within the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association (OHSFCA) knew there was only one state to turn to as a replacement.

Today at 1 p.m., the inaugural Ohio–Michigan Border Classic will go down at the University of Findlay's Donnell Stadium and the sons of Ohio will collide with the sons of Michigan.

Taking the field for Team Ohio will be two Ohio State class of 2014 commitments, Erick Smith and Marshon Lattimore, both of Cleveland's Glenville Academy. Smith will play defensive back and Lattimore will play wide receiver.

In all, 40 players committed to FBS universities will be in action, including 12 pledged to Big Ten schools.

Beat Michigan. It sounds just as good in June as it does in November

I wish I could watch this game down here in VA. Days like this will help the summer wait for football go by a little faster.

Booker at LB would've been nice, but yeah - beat that state!

I really wish we would get that QB (#10) from Kenton to play for us! Could you imagine the buckeyes playing in the NC game against a SEC team w a QB who is named Grant Sherman! That would just be epic.

I'm glad he's going to Toledo and that if he blows up as a prolific college QB, he'll be local to enjoy the show.  His numbers at Kenton were unbelievable, even for Ben/Maty Mauk standards.  Best of luck to him.

Shit, OHIO is down 27-14 with less than a minute left, unbelieveable

Unless most of the big names play like they used to these kind of games are pointless

Good luck to Erick Smith, Marshon Lattimore, Jalen Fox, and Curtis Brunson.  I hope they all performed well, and I can't wait to see them on campus.  Wait, that's not how it works?

Congrats to the Michigan kids, and particularly U-M legacy/commit Jared Wangler, the defensive MVP.

27-14 Michigan.

Why would you come to an Ohio State website to announce your congratulations to Michigan? Do you think anyone on here gives a flying f**k about that? Aren't there plenty of Michigan boards for you to discuss this with your fellow fans? What exactly are you trying to accomplish other than trolling?

Easy there big fella.  I don't need to speak on behalf of M Man, but he is one of the more respectable commenters here on 11W who just happens to support TSUN.  We might absolutely h8 our rivals, but I wouldn't speak on behalf of everyone with blanket statements of frustration.  Now, that said, this is just high school football... They win with players from our state and we win with theirs (eg, Craig Krenzel - natty title ring a bell?), but above all, let's not let our fandom get in the way of being respectable human beings on this great site.

As an Ohio State fan I never go on to a Michigan board other than to observe. Period. If I want to talk about my beloved Buckeyes, I am not going on to a Michigan board to do so. We have plenty of sites to discuss our team with our own fans.

I hear you - no one likes visitors to come to a BBQ party and say something that ruins a mood, but it's not like M Man said, "Yea, show those little ohio sh@tkickers who the real boss is".

He only posted a congratulatory note to his state high school boys for winning a meaningless game.  He gets plenty of crap every year when it really counts - and the 364 other days that we remind him.  ;)

Alot of big names did play.  The semester system and early enrollment claims some of them.  Also some colleges wouldn't let their kids play (Miami of Ohio & Marshall among others).  Another factor was that several of the kids originally slated to play had to take the ACT today.  I hardly think it was pointless.  The young men had a fantastic week and made new friendships and really enjoyed themselves.  The monies raised from "these kind of games" goes to scholarships as well as coaching clinics etc., which helps keep Ohio as a hotbed of football talent.

I probably missed it but does anyone know what channel this will be on?

Still not giving a damn for the whole state of Michigan.
