I believe Fickell pulls down $750,000 (whereas Withers only makes $450,000). I'm not sure if that was just a one year deal for Fickell and he's due to have his assistant salary come down to earth, or what.
I think Hazell's salary at Kent was $300,000 this year.
Would Kent go to $750,000 to keep someone for a while? I don't know. Is Fickell even that guy that they'd be willing to shell out the big bucks for?
I don't think he's ready yet. He needs at least 2-3 more years as the primary defensive play caller. He just doesn't look comfortable yet with being in charge.
On an unrelated subject: Does anyone agree Chris Peterson missed his opportunity for a giant increase in pay by not moving last year or the year before even? Is he even being talked about for any of these big jobs that are open at present?
If I was his agent I'd be advising him he should be seeking "top 10" type money with a program that gives him top 5 type upside potential. (Gary Patterson at TCU is getting a top 10 paycheck for god's sake.) Boise State is not that place.
Good for Coach Hazell, but these cheap B1G BOT's are bringin' a knife to a gun fight.Sorta like when The Fools Up North replaced Rich Rod with Poor Rod.It's gonna take millions for the poor 13 to compete with TOSU and The Whore Of South Bend.I don't see that happenin'.This is gonna be The B1g"s winter of discontent unless thay can get the national media to fix this mess for'em.Worked before, run it till they stop ya.GO BUCKS!
New twist in the story. The Purdue Rivals blog, Goldandblack.com tweeted that Hazell told his Kent St. players he was not leaving for the Purdue job. The tweet has since been deleted, but here is a screen cap from our friends at Land Grant Holy Land.
This would be a hire I would actually fear a bit. I think Hazell has great potential as a recruiter and a talent evaluator. He could come in and snatch a few OSU targets here and there.
Maybe, though I'm seeming to think if he does it will be players who wanted Purdue all along and not flipping solid OSU commits, especially not the blue-chippers Meyer goes after.

If anything, I would think he could pick off Ohio Kids Urbs isn't targeting. I would think he could impact Michigan, MSU, and even Notre Dame's recruiting efforts in Ohio more so than Ohio State's.

+1 for the B1G.
Great hire. He's a class act. I wish him the best, except when he plays OSU.
Great, great hire. But he's gonna need a moustache.
He must have grown one for the interview otherwise Purdue won't have hired him.
Good hire.
Hold up on that signin'. Darell, do you know the Wisky job is open too? Good for him. He'll do just fine at Purdont, or anywhere else he goes.
Awesome.
(P.S. What is next - Luke to Kent? Or something better?)
good for darell. hopefully kent gets another hire that is a home run
Well guess I don't hate Purdue anymore...
Isn't this what we all said when Dantonio left for MSU?
Fickell to Kent State finally?
I bet his current salary as a DC at Ohio State pays more than a HC at a MAC school..

I think we posted simultaneously.

Hopefully not being the primary defensive play caller for us.
bald head and mustache would look B.A.
I like football
B.A. Baracus?
Taquitos.
He doesn't fly.

He makes decent money plus has security in a place he likes. Plus I think he learned a lot from his predecessor about "greener pastures".

Purdue making a good decision for once. Shocking.
Nailed it.

I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then.

BAHAHAAAAAAAA
You, my friend, are a genius.
Hazell has personally said that nothing is finalized, and he isn't the purdue head coach....yet
born and raised in Cleveland
Apparently not a done deal yet

What in the world is going on
Never trust anything Purdue related
I'm guessing that Purdue decided to hire Jim Bollman instead, as he fits the "cranky old white guy with mustache" criteria Purdue demands.
We can't stop here; this is bat country...
Where does Danny Hope land next? It's a shame he got fired; I was just "getting used to" him ruining Purdue football.

The MAC? What big-time program would actually take Hope?
so has this been confirmed or not?

That would obviously be a best case scenario. Having a Dantonio-style program--good but not THAT good--would be ideal.
