No doubt. If joe would have went and got a few of his linemen and was like look, "I need you guys to come with me and whip jerry's ass cause there is some fucked up shit going on" you think any of them would have sided against joe. No. No they would not have. so then joe and his linemen who stopped jerry sandusky would all be heros. but, instead............and here we are.
I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.
If I'm reading the middle snippet correctly, it appears Paterno had zero friends on the PSU board - the same body from which at least one trustee has made loud complaints about how Paterno's legacy has been destoyed. Perhaps it's a combination of "know your audience" (aka, fans) and trying to justify the complaints as to actually being about the sanctions, but it does seem a bit two-faced: public support, private dismay. While this doesn't apply to all trustees, it seem yet another, albeit minor, facet to this sorded mess.
It mentions a situation with the president of PSU, Spanier, from back in 03 or 04, which I think is when the board and the president were trying to get Paterno to walk away and retire from coaching and Paterno basically told them off and let them know that he would decide when he was done coaching and nobody else. My guess is that he lost some "friends" on the board over that.

Paternos concern in the end was about his name. That was always his concern. That is what put them in the bad place they ended up.
Took the words right out of my mouth LOUGROZA....."Forget the kids, I need to preserve my legacy!"
Funny how had he stepped in and smacked Sandusky around, he'd probably have looked like a real superhero.
"I'm One Bad Buckeye, and I approve this message."

Yeah, I wondered about that section too.
