Good read on why ESPN is so vulnerable to the competition sprouting up around it. Bonus points for the phrase, "the dipshit gauntlet at Around the Horn." (complex.com)
I don't even bother watching them anymore. The Especially Stupid Phony Network lost me a long time ago. I log in to vote on their site for people like Thad Matta or others competing on behalf of tOSU but I draw the line there. There are too many phony homies on there to not be biased in whatever they present. I wish it weren't part of my cable/tv package because I refuse to watch it yet I get charged for it.
SportsCenter earlier this morning had reruns of the NBA games, the Yankees game, and the Red Sox game in their hour long show. Not even a whisper of Indians-Twins let alone highlights.
Mm. That's good hate. Agreed on nearly every point.
The only thing I'll defend is their glut of NFL coverage. Football moves the meter. It gets eyeballs. ESPN is a business and you can't fault them.
The first round of the NFL draft this year got 25 MILLION VIEWERS. The NHL's first round playoff games that were played around the same time averaged LESS THAN ONE MILLION VIEWERS. Football owns the sports market. Case closed.
I think they perhaps didn't press home the important point that they cast themselves as a news agency; but their "news wing" is seriously compromised by the business interests (SEC, NFL, Sox-Yankees) they also promote. It's a classic conflict of interest. It would be like the Coca-Cola owning CBS News...and refusing to cover a story about poisoned Cokes.....or constantly promoting Coke vs. Pepsi.
I try to avoid watching college games on ESPN at all costs. I wish NBC would get more games. ESPiN is making its own bed. The need for alternative networks has been made aware, and I think slowly we will have more options, Thus killing ESPN and their "SCANDALS"
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.

Thank God somebody called them out on the "Boston Bias." I can't deal with their baseball coverage for that very reason.
and i quote: "if big papi wasnt swinging around for '04 and '07 they'd be as relevant as the cleveland indians"
Key Word: '07
Brilliant. Sheer brilliance.

A lot of Buckeyes do work for the WWL but there is an agenda there for sure.
That article was spot on.

Sick of it.
They didn't think the Tribe pasting a AAA team was worth devoting a lot of time to, can't say I'm that surprised.
When told OSU set school record for 50+ games this year, UFM said "That's good. We're gonna break that next year."
or how the AAA team almost came back to beat the tribe the day before...
