"He was stopped earlier this year for running a stop sign, last year for traveling 94 mph in a 65 mph zone and two years ago, for traveling 99 mph in a 65 mph zone."
What the hell?!
"I'm Willie Buckets, and I approve this message"
Everybody drives without insurance, goes 30+ miles over the speed limit, robs from me, robs from you, whatever.
Omg! he was going 94mph?! can't the NCAA do something to stop this? God please help us! Oh the humanity!
Seriously do you guys even have balls anymore?
Tampa Buckeye you are fucking out
Tampa, these aren't even NCAA violations anymore, he was driving on a suspended license, that's illegal. His illegal actions coupled with his NCAA violations should lead to his dismissal from the team.
I'm certainly of the opinion that the tat-5 shouldn't play again, but I do not think that getting speeding tickets or driving on a suspended lisense is even remotely bad. I certainly wouldn't run a football program where people got suspended for getting a speeding ticket.
Driving in the 90's in a 60's zone is just fucking stupid. Its not this incident either, its his pattern of conduct.
'Yes but you know who else got speeding tickets? LEBRON? AND HE'S THE WORST THING EVER!!! AND PRYOR LOVES HIM! He's a witch! BURN HIM!' - some over-reactive guy on the internet.
You know that somebody would try to make that 'argument'.
Need further evidence? Was it you or BT with the "It's just his words that bothers you?"
I don't always take names when I kick ass but when I do, they most often belong to a Wolverine.
Has he been arrested for driving on a suspended license? Its not like he's running a dog fighting ring like his boy vick.
Another thing what is the deal with the local news stocking him like TMZ? Like Matt said I'm fuckin out.
"Another thing what is the deal with the local news stocking him like TMZ?"
I will agree with you on that. That was fucking stupid. The same people will cry over the lack of amateurism in college football. What a joke the media is.
I agree with you that the media stocking him continuously is ridiculous. Then again his actions have been ridiculous too. He should be held responsible for them, and at this point to me that means he should be cut from the team. I'm not wishing anything ill upon him, but it's time for him to leave the program and take his talents elsewhere. Joe Schad has tweeted several bits of information including how the locker room is soon becoming divided because of his actions and their consequences. That is the last thing needed, there cannot be a rift in the locker room, there should be a sense of unity, and that is not the case right now.
I agree with you William but as many others say, "he's just a kid, overlook him." /endsarcasm
Coach Fickell needs to make an example of young Mr. Pryor. My choice is cutting the guy loose. He obviously has no remorse.
"Say my name."
I can't say I wouldn't be proud of Fickell if he took care of this punk (that's what he seems to be, at least).
It would be an attention getter for shizzle.
You are the punk. Way to have the kids back.
Tampa, this kid has had more than one chance to get himself straightned up. If I knew I was being investigated bye tUoOS(the University of Ohio State) and the NCAA I wouldn't be rollin' up in my new whip. No wha I sayin'? I have defended Pryor and his arm punts for years. Sometimes all that is left is tough love. Coach Fickell relieving him of his duties would send a clear message that no one is immune. This "kid" got the best coach in OSU's history fired for his chicanery. Way to have Tress' and OSU's back.
As it currently stands, one of the people mentioned (Pryor) is currently associated with the university. The other is not (Tressel). I know I'm splitting hairs, but I don't think getting livid over this new supposed info is the right thing. Supporting OSU, at least in my mind, means supporting those who are there. Right now, that's Pryor, and not Tressel - a truly shitty thing, but reality.
I agree with the notion that Fickell should cut him loose. I just don't think a whole lot of good is going to come from getting super-pissed at the guy.
You're looking at one of the biggest Pryor apologists throughout the years, friend. Ask many people. How about he has somebody other than himself's back for once? His actions continually SCREAM selfish.
Why back the wicked? Nice set of morales you have there pal. Win at all costs much?
Time for The University of Ohio State and TP to part ways.
I see what you did there.
Twitter rumor blowing up that TP met with three agents this weekend?
This goes here:
adjective, verb, -tut·ed, -tut·ing.
without means of filling 9 car garage, unable to compete with Jay Leno's vehicle fetish
deprived of, devoid of, or lacking an immense Couture wardrobe, resultant in the fear that one is not "Fresh-to-death"
3. "Fuck you NCAA, Ima roll this Nissan 350z up into this piece any damn way"
Kick him loose
"Okay -- I've got an El Camino full of rampage here."
I saw a tweet saying Robert Smith mentioned TP entering the supplemental draft.
Shouldn't he do that if it's at all possible? I mean the guy's unlikely to ever play for the buckeyes again, and might be run out of Columbus regardless of if he wants to stay, feels remorse, or whatever...
I'm about the most forgiving guy in the world when somebody shows remorse. However, TP's pattern of conduct shows that that will likely not happen any time soon. Probably when he is older looking back at his college career.
Welcome to the light Jake.
Does he really have any other choice at this point? Deservedly, he will not see the field this fall. The best he will be able to do is sit in the stands and watch the games. This also would be easier on OSU as anything he has done after Jan1 is moot if he enters that SD. Whether you hate the kid or not, the best thing for all concerned is for him to move on.
Clearly you're completely right on here...
Agreed. I just hope that 'moving on' means not harboring resentment and non-sequituring comments about how every highly-recruited kid is the 'next Terrelle Pryor'. Not at all saying that you're guilty of this - I just hope that people aren't quick to judge based on 'being right about Pryor'.
I feel I was completely wrong on Pryor. I was way off the mark.
I just hope that 'moving on' means not harboring resentment and non-sequituring comments about how every highly-recruited kid is the 'next Terrelle Pryor'.
You know people are going to do that though ^
Sure, it's probably inevitable. That doesn't mean it's acceptable.
From what i can tell about the limited interviews and stuff I have read on Miller, I don't feel that way at all. I think he has handled himself pretty well thus far, though we are way to early in that assesment.
I like Pryor, I really do. I cheer for him everytime he's on the field and off the field. He's just not too smart, and you have to be smarter than he is with how the media is today in college sports. The media creates you and then breaks you.
how does it make sense to be all academic B1G while still being a complete retard off the field? pryor is just one individual i'll never understand
The offseason begins when your season ends. Even then there are no days off.
I always considered my brother to be smarter than me even though my grades were always MUCH better than his. At times, grades can have little reflection on a person's true intelligence level.
I do think he's struggled with in game decision making. It got better this last year, but it was his biggest limitation to me.
Yeah, even though he has made some really bad choices, said some not too smart things, and maybe still hasn't even learned his lesson, I still have to feel bad for him. You know that deep inside, the kid's got to be hurting right now, what with most of the school/city/Buckeye Nation hating him right now. And every time he looks down at his arm and sees that Block O, he'll have to think about all of this. He'll have to think about Tressel falling on his sword, his team mates without him, not playing his senior year, and the community's ill will. How can you not at least feel bad thinking about that?
Just for him as a human being, I hope he somehow gets things back on track.
Hard to feel bad for a kid that gives you the middle finger every chance he gets.
Did I say finger? I meant to say fingers. Like 350 of them.
Buckeye born and bred. Buckeye til I'm dead.
That's not even anatomically possible. Unless he reaaallly liked that Denzel flick 'The Bone Collector'.
not if he did it 35 times....
Yeah I definitely hear you. My comment is in no way accepting of his actions. And I understand and agree with why everyone is angry. I am for sure. But I'm also hope that one day he redeems himself. I may be a homer, but this really could bring the team together this year.
He is only hurting over the larger sum of money that he is going to be losing based on his actions. No way he gets drafted as high as he would have if he kept his noce clean.
Problem is, will TP get a case of the Ray Smalls when he leaves the program?
Doesnt matter if what he says is true to not. I just worry that his ego and maturity level will get the best of him.
Hmmm... Some of the players (at least one) seems to be fed up...
I'd put my money on either Brewster, Stoney, or Boren. Most likely the last.
They're all white! You better get on this racism lead, Brooks.
Just read a piece on the Ozone about how OSU should cut the Glenville Pipeline, and of course most comments were compromised of calling the writer a racist because Glenville is predominantly black. What tards...http://theozone.net/football/2011/Tresselaffair/glennville.html
Most people suggesting shutting down the Glenville pipeline are not racist. However, that's certainly an angle that I've seen taken a number of times already. That's certainly an argument that a small number of people are taking. Unfortunately, in addition to being hugely misguided, they're doing a huge disservice to anyone trying to make that argument.
Probably not a good idea to claim that people accusing of racism are 'tards'. Using juvenile language like that isn't going to help you make your point in any respectable manner.
Neither does humor at the poster's expense.
Pretty wide gulf of difference there, ace. I never insinuated that you're mentally disabled.
I just find it completely enraging that anyone would make such a claim like the writer of that article is racist. i find that you either have to be completely ignorant or in a more humane manner they could be handicapped.
Its like tethering a horse to a pole. The horse gets so used to its environment and used to its predicament that it only reacts to conditioned responses. A rancher throws the bridle over the pole with a single loop to keep the horse from leaving. Could the horse get away? Sure it could easily. But it has been conditioned to act a certain way in response to conditions that it is put in. Claiming racism is a common response to any opposition toward a few minorities. The card has been overplayed to the point that many folks just don't care anymore. It is starting to fall on deaf ears. Don't read into that last statement and focus solely on that statement. Racism will always exist and it should be continued to be fought against. It is not right pass judgement on any man based solely on his skin color. The facts are that still the same. The card has been overplayed.
When Tressel's 2 game suspension was announced, I thought his punishment should match the 5 games the players got. Now that his coaching days at Ohio State are over, I think Pryor's should be too. The only reason I single Pryor out and not the others accused/proven to have received improper benefits is Pryor continues to display an attitude of indifference. He doesnt seem to care if he harms the university and will do whatever he wants. That being said, I would have no problem blowing this whole thing up and getting the Braxton Miller/Luke Fickell era started right away.
Also, if the NCAA institutes a bowl or post season ban, would that include a conference championship game or just the bowl game? And could the university, if a ban is implemented, request the ban to begin this year? (seeing as we may not see a BCS game this year, "volunteering" to skip a lower tier bowl may not be a bad idea.)
I never saw a football player make a tackle with a smile on his face
I'm just stating the obvious at this point, as everyone is reporting the same thing, but the coaching staff isn't even going to need to decide what to do about Pryor. He will never play another game for the Buckeyes. His decision to declare for the supplemental draft (if that's indeed what he's done) will have been made for him. TP was interviewed by compliance officials for 4 hours recently (i think it was last Thursday but that might not be right). I have no idea what he disclosed, but he basically forfeited the rest of his eligibility based on the info he provided. I wish TP no ill will, but i will be glad to see him go.
The question i have about TP is just how long he's been doing whatever shady shit he's been doing. I think we all expect the 2010 season to be vacated. If he's been accepting improper benefits since he arrived on campus, does that mean every win he played in will be vacated as well? Anyone know?
By the way, four hours isn't an interview, it's an interrogation. That should give you an idea of how things went for Pryor during this interview.
Shit just got real... (wrong use of quote? maybe? ...oh well)
Really I'm not anymore informed than any of you but I would think him just saying what he did wouldn't be evidence enough. The NCAA seems to be all about FACTS, receipts, phone conversations, emails, etc. If they find the stuff he sold that would be huge (as they did in the raid of the tattoo shop), because while he can give some autographed stuff away "for free" he can't give away jerseys or equipment because he doesn't own those the team and school do.
If they find facts and not just story telling I would think the NCAA could very well vacate all of the wins...but to me that seems unlikely.
Four Hours...I can't imagine that conversation was a 240 minute affirmation that no more HEADFUX was comming down the chute courtesy of #2 & Associates. Please just pack up and go Son. I hope one day you learn humility, wisdom, and mercy.
Your gravy train idles at quarter-steam, the conductor banished, the station empty. Next outbound engine is for you, nonrefundable. The tOSU family gave you our trust. Fool me twice.
I'm with Brewster. Stiff upper lip, what?
I cannot believe this is the way Tressel and Pryor will be forever intertwined.
This is just a really sad example of how there are just those people who cannot be saved. You gave it your best shot Coach, but in the end it would be your undoing.
I dont disown this young man because he is an embarrassment. I do not humbly admit I attacked the wrong 'fake Buckeye' because this young man has managed to completely obliviate our reputation. I did not put away the signed autograph that, until today sat on display in my office, because his overinflated sense of self-importance was finally revealed to us in all its glory.
No, my heart breaks instead at the thought that someone like Terrelle Pryor could make Jim Tressel feel like a failure.
Well said. It's just so sad. So stupid.
I second that.
I'm watching the 2001 OSU-UM game on ESPN U (by the way F-U ESPN for this mocking tribute) and even though this game was from ten years ago, even though I know how it will end, even though I know that JT will not be coaching again, there is something very cathartic about watching the Buckeyes play. It gives me hope that come September, once the Buckeyes take the field, things will start to feel good again. It will take time not seeing JT out there, but OSU football will go on.
I will cease my melodrama now. And Wells just bust a 46 yarder for TD. Sweet.
Yeah, it was refresing to watch that game and the sugar bowl tonight. Makes me realize how much I'll miss the way Tressel coached. And the type of games and teams his personal style created. They may have not run away with many victories, but he certainly created drama and won.
TP is going to enter the Draft no doubt. That new 350Z pretty much confirms it. He's not a bad kid, just a dunsky. His slow progressing on-field IQ says it all. I'm not gonna crucify the guy like many have already done so, but will agree that it's best to cut ties with him and move on; although, having a stud QB in waiting (B. Miller) makes this all a lot easier.
"No time for love, Doctah Jones!"
Off with his head!
Time to cut ties with TP.
It's actually time for OSU to clean house before August 12...and Pryor is just a start.
Long live the southend.
Yea - probably including Gene Smith, definitely including the people in charge of football in the compliance department, and maybe even the entire department itself.
Any chance Tressel gets to come back in another capacity?
Depends on the NCAA ruling I would imagine, but I would say doubtful.
A show-clause is only limited to coaching, correct?
I am just desperate for him to carry on in another capacity. I just cannot stomach losing him entirely over this.
I could see him teaching at the university. That's about the only capacity that would work out fine - anything athletics-related shouldn't happen for a long while IMO.
NBC4 just said not only was Terrelle Pryor's license suspended, he was given no driving priveleges. This means all of the videos of him driving in the new Nissan show him driving illegally.
Not excusing Pryor from anything he's done but does NBC4 have any footage of a non-athlete speeding, not wearing a seat belt or even possibly driving without a license? Athletes are not supposed to have any special treatment that the general public can't receive, therefore in theory (which will not be the case) the NCAA will not be able to use any of this footage against him. (As for the local authorities, that is a different matter.)
"Just bow up and go out and play." ~ D. Lee
I wasn't claiming that this would be something used by the NCAA, it has nothing to do with football. It's just plain stupid.
Oh I know you weren't, I was just making an overall statement on the hypocrisy of the NCAA. I agree that it's blatantly stupid and don't understand why he keeps putting himself out there in this negative light.
