Taylor Lewan Accused of Assault in Aftermath of Ohio State Game

Michigan's Taylor Lewan, who is expected to be one of the first offensive linemen taken in the 2014 NFL draft, is under investigation for an alleged assault that took place in Ann Arbor after the Ohio State-Michigan game on November 30th. BuckNuts was the first to report:

That night, the sidewalk was full of people when the accuser and his friends walked through the area en route to Panchero’s Mexican Grill – next to The Little Brown Jug. Unaware of the perimeter fence, one of the people in the group bumped into it and tripped.

“We were sort of just walking by when the crowd started making a bunch of noise,” Curtis, a victim and eyewitness, told Bucknuts. “I had no idea what was going on, but the next thing I knew, the crowd parted and a huge guy in a red polo shirt came up to me and punched me in the face.”

The question remains: why was Taylor Lewan wearing red after The Game? Not a good look, regardless.

Agree on the Mewhort love, but even if Lewan is convicted of simple assault, his draft stock won't be harmed by it. ESPN's Tim Keown had a great article about how the NFL needs players like this.

Hovenaut's picture

You had me at ESPN's Tim Keown....
As much as I hate to say it, but Keown is on the mark there. What went on in the Dolphin locker room went beyond being a professional, or an adult....leadership should have stepped in.
I have my faults, and many to be honest, but seems to me the NFL is fickle about considering the character of a player/prospect. I doubt my grandfather was a big pro ball fan - Woody was just getting started in Columbus and the Browns weren't even in the NFL yet - but he has to be looking down at the Miami situation and shaking his head.
Easy enough to jump on Lewan, especially since he decided to know nothing but failure play ball in AA. But he's an aggressive, hard nosed offensive tackle, and players at that position are at a premium on Sundays.
Here's hoping his issues with idiocy doesn't exceed his talent, or his nastiness.

Unless there is some sarcasm I'm missing...that article is not actually advocating a need for violent sociopaths who can't control themselves.

He was wearing red. That tells me enough. He can no longer stand ttun.

Fuck m*ch*gan! That is all.

I'm not disputing the report, but I've grown to really dislike Bucknuts. Matt Baxendell and Dave Biddle are two of the biggest moron fanboys I've come across.
Is anyone else reporting this?

original buckeye's picture

What exactly are you doing, if you're not disputing the report, given that you claim to "really dislike Bucknuts," and you call Baxendell and Biddle "moron fanboys?"  Sure does sound like you're bringing into question the veracity of the report by attacking the authors.

Lets see if Hoke gets hammered by the media if Lewan plays in TTUN's bowl game.  My guess is he doesn't get any heat.

Hell, my guess is that it isn't even brought up.

I was at the Brown Jug around this time. If I missed my chance to put Taylor Lewan on World Star I'm going to be pretty bitter about this.

Also, I have to think something is being left out of this report by the victims. I'm to believe Taylor Lewan just randomly walked up to an Ohio State fan and blasted him? The kid can't be that stupid, can he?

Short Answer: Yes.
Long Answer: We're talking about a guy who threatened an accuser in a sexual assault case against his teammate. Same guy who has a litany of game film exhibiting dirty play. Punching a random guy seems well with in this line of behavior.

Also, I'm sure the polo was blue or whatever shade of yellow they're calling it these days.  It just appeared red because he bled all over it.  His forehead just randomly gushes from time to time.

I should post something here about how much I dislike Lewan. About how much misfortune I wish upon him and certainly how scraping dog crap off my boot is more pleasurable to me than hearing his name mentioned, but I will refrain.

He'll get abused plenty enough in the NFL... the legal and "this will probably affect your next contract because you keep getting ran over" type of abuse from D linemen.

Urban's fault.  If he had not coached OSU to victory this may never have happened.
Yes.  Yes it would have.

Note:  if anyone is ever confronted by Lewan this is how you should attack.
1. Fake left and run right (he has trouble stopping people going right.
2. Kick him in the back of the knees to drop him to the ground.
3. Finish him with a punch to the red dot on his forehead.
4. Remind him all he knows is failure so this ass beating should come as no suprise.
5. Tell him he will be raped by a large criminal type if he tells the police.

Police investigating whether Taylor Lewan was involved in assault in Ann Arbor after OSU game

Ann Arbor police are investigating whether University of Michigan football star Taylor Lewan may have been involved in an assault the night after the Michigan-Ohio State game earlier this month.
Police confirmed Lewan, a projected NFL first-round draft pick, was in the area of a fight involving Ohio State University fans about 12:30 a.m. Dec. 1 in the 1200 block of South University Avenue, but his level of involvement had not been determined as of Dec. 23.
Lewan has not been arrested and no charges have been filed in the incident. Police confirmed an investigation is taking place into the incident, but would not confirm any further details into the incident.

My guess is that since all he has ever known is failure, he decided he want to see what success was like so he put on a scarlet polo on and go beat on a weaker opponent. Much like the Buckeyes do to ttun! But on a more serious note I guess we will have to wait and see if anything comes of this.

Freep

Taylor Lewan — the University of Michigan offensive tackle expected to be a first-round pick in the NFL draft in May — was one of several people interviewed by police after an Ohio State fan said he was assaulted outside a downtown Ann Arbor restaurant, a source familiar with the investigation told the Free Press.
The alleged assault occurred on South University Avenue near Central Campus after U-M’s loss to Ohio State on Nov. 30. The incident is still under investigation by the Ann Arbor Police Department, which wouldn’t comment.
Lewan has not been arrested or charged. He could not be reached for comment.
