Mack Brown Might Be (Quietly) Saving His Job

Texas' long-time athletic director, DeLoss Dodds is on the outs, and Mack Brown being sent to the bread lines was an event that many figured not to be too far into the future. After getting speared by BYU in a loss that saw Texas' defense giving up 500+ yards on the ground, and the firing of 'Horns defensive coordinator Manny Diaz, Mack Brown seemed to double-down on the situation when he brought in Greg Robinson.

Since then, Texas has quietly righted their ship, even knocking off arch-rival Oklahoma in What Used to Be Called the Red River Shootout.

It's hard to see Mack Brown staying on unless Oliver Luck, current West Virginia athletic director and odds-on-favorite to replace DeLoss Dodds, finds in him the man who can lead Texas into the next era.

It's also worth noting Texas' schedule is back-loaded, so they're not out of the woods yet. Will be fascinating to watch from the outside, and yet another opportunity to be thankful for the remarkable stability of the Ohio State football program.
