Taylor Decker: MCL Sprain

Taylor Decker

STUPID MCLs ARE STUPID, but thankfully this isn't a serious injury. Offensive line is the one position at which Ohio State can't afford to lose depth.

I guess a sprain is better than a tear?

BenW's picture

Injury nomenclature is so weird. I sprain actually is a tear. What people normally think of as a "tear" is a complete rupture, or a Grade III sprain, where the ligament is completely in 2 pieces.
But that's beside the point. Glad Decker's injury isn't too serious!

Yes, sprain is a very broad term.  "Same" injury that Miller had this season.  Rest up and heal for the Michigan game young man.

AMEN- I 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, ETC. that !!!!!  When he went down everyone in our section was holding our breath.  We all were very concerned for TD. The kid has flat out been balling (along with the rest of the OLine-and team for that matter) over the past month +. I am soooooooooooo glad it's not serious (hate hearing about any kid going down).  He will be back pancaking people soon. He is a tuff kid. Just glad it was not serious -again-!!!!! GO BUCKS!!!!!!!

Buckeye Dynasty starts in 2014 baby !!!!!! GO BUCKS !!!!!!!! O - H - I - O

Don't overlook BYE WEEK, I believe they beat scUM this year....

Your mom told me she wants a Dicken Cidar.

Braxton came back in 3, and I don't think Decker needs those moves.  Get him well for Michigan because I doubt we get slowed down by any D before that.

Sit out til Indiana or even Michigan if necessary

I realize Illinois is a forgettable team, but he can sit that one out too.  ;-)

Damn wonder how Urbs and Warinner are gonna approach this. Plus Dodson, Brown or Baldwin in there or slide Norwell out to tackle and plug someone in at guard.

We were born to love Ohio State and hate that team up north.

Wrinner said that he recruited chase faris as an OL.So put him right back there for now.

I'm wondering who will start in his place w/ so many different players in his spot... considering if I remember right it was him and Chase Ferris battling for the spot in the spring (who has since switched to DL)

Just awful news. Get well soon, Taylor!

Can someone explain to me why Decker was even in the game late in the 3rd quarter leading by 49? I feel that Dodson or Ferris should have been playing and Decker's injury could have been prevented.....GO BUCKS!

Golden Buckeye's picture

Well at that point we still had the majority of our line in to protect Kenny G, I'd assume. And Chase Ferris plays D now, had a big sack today.

Decker was the only starter still playing at the time

Probably trying to get him some playing time with the younger guys to prep for next year

Buckeytrips's picture

Not sure why. They haven't done that in the past why start now.

FormerBuck's picture

Because for all intents and purposes, that may have been our starting offensive line next year.  You wanna get them some playing time in game situations together.

Buckeytrips's picture

I was thinking the same thing as I saw him laying on the field. Never should have been in at that point

What about Bennett?

"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.

Good thing we have two bye weeks coming up.
(Illini = PSU whom we thrashed)

This is actually a bit of a relief. No better time in the schedule for him to recuperate. Heal fast young man.

Good thoughts to Taylor- Heal soon. Heal strong and be ready for Ichigan.

Agree, rest him until scum....no need to take any chances.

This might be a silver lining type deal here.  We get a chance to get one of our young linemen a start in conference play.  Going to be valuable next year.

Buckeye_Mafia's picture

That was the only bad thing that happened today.  I held my breath a few times.  Curtis Grant left the game twice.  Michael Bennett left with a stinger.  And then the injury to Decker late in the game.  Hopefully they heal up over the bye=week and are good to go for the home stretch.

Get well soon Taylor. This dude's development during the season has been great. Khalil Mack blowing past him seems ages ago. Go bucks!

well put. hopefully he's got enough time to heal up!

Fortunately he has a bye to get better. In the mean time, it's "Next Man Up" for Chase Farris. He should have a good game against Illinois.

The offseason begins when your season ends. Even then there are no days off.

I'm pretty sure that Chase is on D now
