Definitely my favorite B1G player not in scarlett and gray...he should be though. This has probably been discussed on here before, but did Tress offer him?

Definitely not a recruitnik, but his Rivals page shows no OSU offers

From what I understand, he was a complete under-the-radar player, and a huge Wisconsin fan.

I swore I heard one of the play-by-play or color commentators during the Wisconsin game saying he was a Badger legacy...

Compared to the Bucks 2009 LB class:
Borland = Zach Boren (ate Devin Gardner for lunch)
Borland > Dorian Bell (transferred Dusquene)
Borland > Storm Klein (graduated)
Borland > Jordan Whiting (transferred to Louisville, )

Boren was good, but Borland is better. Just my unbiased opinion.

hail2victors9's picture

Agree.  It's not a fair statement to say Borland = Boren, due to Boren being a full back for 85% of his career.  In the sample size we saw, Boren was pretty darn good at LB, but not Borland good.

Since the Buckshot is about Borland playing kicker, I figured it was a sensible analogy. Boren was, simply put, a productive football player. Borland has also proven that he's a productive football player.
The assessment of value here has to do with what he brought to the team, tangibe or intangible. I believe that behind Simon, Boren was one of UFMs personal MVPs, and that's where the '=' comes into play.
The second point I wanted to make was that Borland could have been extremely useful at LB for what turned out to be an extremely under-whelming 2009 class....

That kids an animal. He's the only guy I've seen stop Hyde in his tracks single handedly.

DJ Byrnes's picture

Yeah, hoping the Browns draft him in the 2nd round or so. (We just signed a guy with a torn ACL to replace a guy with a torn ACL, so I'm not that confident.)

Would love to have him on the Browns...
+1 if I could.

Maybe not a 2nd rounder though lol.

The first man gets the ((((Oyster)))), the second man gets the shell.

otrain2416's picture

that would be a great pick snatching Hyde up with a 3rd or 4th would be a solid pick too

Borland is an animal.  This play he made in high school is one of the best I've ever seen.

WOW! That was so cool, you can't even do it in NCAA 14.  And I can pass for 500 yards in one quarter in that game.

No way!  Just a 99 overall QB, and refusing to abide by autosub bylaws.

That's just ridiculous. I've seen an NFL play like that, but high school? ...ridiculous.

Now that is a throwback.  The guy should wear a leather helmet.

Is the knee brace considered performance enhancing when he's kicking?

buckeyeEddie27's picture

This guy is awesome.  I hope to see him actually kick.  I get a little hint of old #44 from this guy I swear.  And that is some damn fine company to be in.

I know there's a game Saturday, and my ass will be there.

Tony's picture

Didn't he receive a punt last week? This guy is just awesome.

cal3713's picture

He did throw a 15 yard pass on what should have been Wisconsin's game winning drive against Arizona State (on a fake punt).

GoBucksToledo's picture

The guy is good, no doubt.  Undoubtedly due to his Ohio upbringing.
What can't he do?  Well, recently, I'd have to go with beat Ohio State.

Borland got his Masters from the Boren school of Football Awesomology. The field goal thing is his doctoral thesis.

How is it possible to grow up in our beautiful state and be a fan of Wisconsin!

Hand this kid the ball too. I'd love to see what he would do to another LB.

Between borland and abbrederis, their best player on each side of the ball was completely overlooked by the big time programs.
