^  This!  Ten thousand effing times!
Obviously the plan is spelled out for us, but this is a simpler way that gets the same damn effect.

I would like to see it grey.  That would be different....and less confusion

I actually like it when they do this sometimes...
Cool to see on TV

And when we win the game, we'll buy a keg of boooooooooze!! And we'll drink to old Ohio 'till we wobble in our shoes.

I like these ideas all times.

I've always wanted to see the Block O in the student section. Why hasn't this ever happened? It would be simple if everyone wore grey shirts on the O.

Dips's picture

They do the Block O every single year/game using white jerseys passed out.  Just at some point people rebel and it's gone.

Block O South is general admission. It'd be far too difficult to coordinate

The offseason begins when your season ends. Even then there are no days off.

OSU_ALUM_05's picture

Many moons ago when I was in Block O they gave us scarlet or grey pullover jerseys to make sure it looked like an O and then we tossed them down to the officers up front at some point during the game. Some people tied them up in balls and threw them at opposing fans......if it's not still happening that could be why.

Yeti's have feelings too.

I remember this at the UCF game last year.

I don't really like this gimmick, but I will do my part again this year and wear gray. #26A

This is the best photo I could find of last years.
Anyone have a better picture?

Boomcat's picture

They tried to do this last year and it failed miserably.

NoVA Buckeye's picture

The UCF game? Oh I remember... I'm not sure why they want to do this when all we want to do is wear scarlet?

Hopefully it goes better than it did last year

FitzBuck's picture

I was at that UCF game and all 6 of us brought 2 shirts because we didn't want to be the only people in our section wearing the wrong color.  It was 50/50 in our section.

I think they have to determine this way ahead of time, that way they can get the word out better by like reminding fans with a little message on the actual ticket or something.

I hate these gimmicks. If I remember correctly, they tried to get C-deck to drop a bunch of streamers or something after kickoff of the M*chigan game. That failed miserably too, and looked quite stupid.

They should do it so it makes a block o.

I wasn't born a Buckeye but I became one as fast as I could.

buckeyedude's picture

I really don't understand how everyone going to the game can't be on board with this? I think it's cool. They should do it every game, damnit.

raiderred's picture

Why don't they do it during night games? It would awesome and people would be more passionate of doing it then for a not so great opponent. The effect on recruits and opposing players would be substantial

buckeye4life050233's picture

this did fail badly last year mostly due to the lack luster effort to get it out on all the media platforms to encourage the fans attending the game to dress accordingly.  as well as the stupid 50 yd line "Let's Go Bucks" cheers the cheerleaders tried to coordinate, epic fail.
If there was one thing I would love to see it would be a "In-Com-Plete" cheer when an opposing QB throws an imcomplete pass.  They do it in Denver for the broncos games and it can get very intimidating and loud for opponents.

Nothing wrong with trying it again. I was at the UCF game last year and most in my section were not on board, but some of us were and it could become a once-a-year thing. Agree that adding it to the ticket would be a smart move. Go Bucks!

thowen79's picture

Didn't Iowa do something like this a few years ago for a night game? I think it's a cool idea, hopefully this year turns out better.

FROMTHE18's picture

They should give out T-shirts with assigned colors...really thats the only chance they have at having this work to perfection...I think if its weak this year like it was last year then a Gray out would be the next best thing...easy to find a gray shirt. but it may look pretty boring compared to the vibrant scarlet

BED's picture

Only wear scarlet at home games.  This is stupid, and will fail.  Penn State's works because the do it ALL THE TIME, and with WHITE SHIRTS.

I got a really sweet scarlet shirt and I'm sitting in section 24c so I'll be wearing scarlet.

Bolt's picture

It's too difficult to coordinate sections in a venue like Ohio Stadium. There's too much second hand ticket sales and scalping the day of the game. There's too big of a portion of people who won't know where they're sitting until they get their tickets the day of the game and are already dressed. No one is going to base their ticket purchase the day of the game based off of the color of shirt they're wearing. Just do all red or all grey with Block O north and south being the opposite for contrast. The coolest (and easiest to coordinate and execute) would be the whole stadium one solid color and then a contrasting O in both Block O north and south.

Oyster's picture

If they were true fans they would have an extra shirt, right?

"Scrolling hurts my finger"

(and FitzBuck was clearly the winner)

ArTbkward's picture

Exactly, people commonly layer two T-shirts anyway.  One scarlet, one grey.  Easy peasy.

Bolt's picture

Have you been to an afternoon sauna game in August/early September?? I, for one, will not be wearing layers in the 'Shoe on August 31st.

ArTbkward's picture

Of course I have.  So take one off, leave it in your car.  Still super simple.

did they ever sell the 2013 fan t shirt? I never saw it on sale.

IBleedSandG's picture

I think a "scarlet out" would be much easier b/c everyone wears scarlet/red anyway. It's tOSU, we shouldn't need to coordinate these crowd designs and what not.

CentralFloridaBuckeye's picture

Great post.  I'm going to the game so good to know they are planning this.  I'll be in a Scarlet section, so will be wearing the jersey!
Go Bucks!!

Idaho Helga's picture

Agreed, stop making this into something complicated.  Its Scarlet or its gray.   Lordy, how the hell complicated does this need to be?  When Wisky comes to town, let's make it GRAY.  Can a doctorate candidate work on this to prove the theorem of wins via crowd shirts?
p.s. Now I'm in the camp that says "Let's bring it?"   We are starting to go silly in the off season with non-issues.  (and yes,I did click on his thread...)
