Interesting that Coach Meyer deflected that in his first question, saying "I didn't receive the good news," but saying he would evaluate all of the facts before rendering a final decision.

I thought the same thing, but I think he pretty much has to say something along those lines given the recent scrutiny, no?

"I'm One Bad Buckeye, and I approve this message."

Probably. He's walking a tightrope any way he goes, as we've already seen this week: stories/columns covering the same damn incident have said or suggested that Meyer is simultaneously too lenient with his players and too quick to rush to judgment instead of letting the process play out. The guy can't win, so hopefully he's not listening much, and will just do what he thinks is right.

Here is the interview link where he says it. I posted it in the forums, but this seems more appropriate. http://media.scribblelive.com/2013/7/24/8f5e8449-bdd7-4b14-802a-67345cdf...

I'm expecting El Guapo to still get an ear-full from Meyer about the situation, but at least this issue is clearing up so he can get back to the team and go to work!

I don't think I've wanted to see a QB and RB destroy the opposition more in my life.

Great to read that coming from Brax.

Who the hell is this twitter moron Clay Travis anyway; never heard of his worthless ass...

He's an obnoxious SEC shill who until this year was writing for some lousy college sports website, probably for 8 cents a word or so.  This year he's working for fox sports website and is probably making all of $30k a year.  The big promotion has jacked up his arrogant stupidity to new heights.

Do I come off as arrogant? Shame on me, I was hoping it would more obvious.

Meanwhile ESPN continuing to non-report the resolution of the Hyde incident.  Top story just changed to "Meyer Furious at Buckeye legal issues".  Report fails to even mention the possible exhoneration of Hyde, while Yahoo and MSN have reported the positive news all day.

EvanstonBuckeye's picture

Noted. The real drama will be how many games in do ESPN announcers utter lines like, "you may remember that Carlos Hyde was involved in an off-season nightclub altercation..."?
Early over/under is 7 games.

This whole thing seemed very ridiculous.  Carlos wouldn't ever need to hit a girl because she didn't want him.

<soapbox>So El Guapo gets an earful! He should! I hope he gets two! He really shouldn't have been in a dive like Sugar 2 in the first place. Hell, I wouldn't even go in there.</soapbox>
That said, I'm glad that it appears he didn't react negatively to someone who wants to drag him down to their level, and I seriously hope he puts this into perspective and learns the Big Lesson(s) from it that he should.
That said, I hereby give him permission to put the energy from the negative attention he's received into taking it out on the B1G this season.

It's Urban's team, but if it were mine, Carlos wouldn't miss one damn game because of this.

OurHonorDefend09's picture

Hmm. This seems strange to me because I imagine Urban addressed all team members about the situation or at least the guys they brought to the media day. I find it hard to believe he would let Braxton leak something like this unless they were 100% positive about it.

Don't give up... Don't ever give up.

buckeyedude's picture

Don't you get it, man? Urban wants Braxton to be more of a leader. He just gave Braxton the keys to the car.

Oh god, not free cars again.  I can't go through this again!

Becool12's picture

I honestly don't know how I feel about this. If we let him go, we are going to have a huge void at running back. He is the only proven running back on the roster, with Smith having fumbling problems and Dunn lacking the supreme explosiveness that Hyde has for his size. But, if we do keep Hyde, we are going to become the media circus again. We are going to have that lingering over our heads forever and Urbs is going to be the target of powerful news outlets, who do actually have a power in recruiting.
