After coming close the last couple of years, the Ohio State men's lacrosse team finally punched through, knocking off top seed and No. 4-ranked Denver 11-10 in the ECAC tournament championship game Saturday at Boswell Field in Geneva, N.Y.

Sophomore Turner Evans netted the game-winner, his fourth of the day, with 24 seconds remaining.

The victory brings the league's automatic NCAA tournament bid to the 10th-ranked Buckeyes. Pairings for the 16-team bracket, set to begin Saturday and Sunday, will be announced tonight at 9 p.m. on ESPNU.

UPDATE: The Buckeyes are the #3 seed and face Towson in the first round on May 12 at 3pm in Indianapolis.

Turner Evans.  Nice.

Awesome job boys; beating the defending NCAA champs first and then avenging the earlier loss to Denver in less then 48 hours; let's go dancing!  I-O!

This is a special team... could get the #3 overall seed in the tournament.  The path to the Final Four in Philly will not be easy, but this could be the team to really put the program on the map. With Lacrosse being such a growing sport and rumblings of the B1G making their own league, this will be a watershed moment for the Lacrosse Buckeyes.

Lax is really exciting to watch and its cool for The Bucks to be making some noise.  I hope they can bring it home!

Great to see what a phenomenal job these guys have done, especially towards the end of the year.  I hope this becomes a yearly event (making the NCAA's),  I-O!

Got those east coast blue bloods like Duke, Hopkins, and UNC worried, and for good reason

A man got to have a code...

rampageripster's picture

wouldn't call Duke and UNC blue bloods... Duke has one NC to their name and UNC has 4 but haven't won one since '91.
You want to talk blue bloods, you nailed one in JHU (9 titles, 18 appearances), but also 'Cuse (10, 16) would be the names that jump out first.  Maybe also Princeton (6,8) and UVA (5,9)... Maryland has a richer tradition as well with 11 appearences but have done a lot of choking with only 2 titles.
When you talk Lacrosse, you talk 'Cuse, Hopkins, and Princeton.  Those three are the blue bloods.
That concludes your daily lacrosse history lessson.

Ahh, Princeton. Most FBS titles in NCAA history.

The offseason begins when your season ends. Even then there are no days off.

R U friggen serious?  Look at Hobart,  I grew up on onadoga indian res.,  cornell boasts a pretty fair team.  Rob Panell prob poy,  J.D.  50 straight wins,  West Genny,  perrinial power,  Lafayette, bringing it to the house,, F.M.  top 5 in state
Pretty much all Lax talent is from central NY or Maryland.  Couple of exemptions being Terry Gilmore,  Bill Wolford and Todd Walker from UA,  Worthington Had Brian Abrahms ans Morris.

The way that the most up to date bracketology looks, it seems that our Buckeyes will get to host a first round playoff match (against prob Towson or Bryant) in Columbus.  From there it is off to Indy for the regionals.  The Final Four is in Philly.  Any local Buckeyes should for sure get out to see this team, they could make OSU lacrosse history!
Oh, and the bracket is to be released at 9 pm EST today, so be on the lookout!

So the bracket is released! We are the #3 seed and face Towson in the first round! That match will happen this coming weekend in Columbus weekend.  We then face the winner of Maryland/Cornell in College Park for the Quarterfinals... which is kinda crap cause UMD is the #7 seed... but wtv

That is IF UMd gets past Cornell, who was ranked #2 in the coaches' poll until they lost to Princeton in OT. Either way, if OSU gets past Towson, I will be in College Park rooting on the S&G. Just my luck that the semis and finals are in Philadelphia, as Baltimore would have been an easy drive for me.

Many may not be excited about a Bucks vs. Terps football matchup however we may soon get a quality lacrosse matchup in the near future Maryland being a solid program and the Bucks having a tremendous season!
