I think this is huge for the Buckeyes. Obviously they will have time to get acclimated, but I believe this time slot helps us since we play the west coast comfortable Arizona Wildcats.

Hope they get out there early. That jet lag can be hell to get rid of sometimes!

It is, however, much easier going west than going east.

Agreed. I regularly do round trip flights from NYC to San Francisco. I've never had issues flying to Cali. Flying back, however, is a different story.

The South will NOT rise again!

I'll be there. Feel free to blame me if we lose...

Nah, I'll just blame Bo Ryan.

Arizona is 15th in the nation in rebound margin...that scaressss me. Something to work on this week!

As long as they don't hit thirty-five 3's like Iowa St did I won't lose too much sleep this week

Great, gives me plenty of time to get home from work. Oh man am I pumped!!!!

You can feed a bobcat all the chili it wants. That don't mean it's going to crap out diamonds.

I hate this game though. Both my parents went to Arizona but have lived almost all my life in Cincinnati and Columbus. Do not like to have to watch them play.
Glad it is not the late start so I can still make it to work on Friday.
**edit** just realized how old I am. Turns out I've lived the majority of my life in DC. I still think of Ohio as home

All our start times have been prime-time thus far. Just shows how well Ohio State rates.
Looking forward to Reggie Miller's analysis.

Arizona is a formidable opponent, but the great thing about them is they tend to have one man dominate the ball, and that is Mark Lyons.  He's a score-first guard trying to play the point, who tries to create more for himself off the dribble.  He shoots it far more than anyone else on Arizona's team, and he turns it over about as much as he assists his own guys.  He's tough when he's getting attacking the basket and getting to the FT line.
I'd say this plays well into the hands of the defensive abilities of Craft and Scott.  If they can make him inefficient offensively, I think OSU is sitting pretty in this game.  If he goes off and is getting his points and getting fouled, it could be a tough night.

Will the parallels to the 2007 tourney continue? Game 1...blow out team from non BCS conference...Game 2...buzzer beating 3....So Game 3 vs Arizona...down by almost 20 at halftime and then a comeback win for OSU is sealed by an Evan Ravenel swat?
Please no. Win the game comfortably. that would be nice. It's going to be a war and I can't wait to watch

He ain't even stretch doe!!

Reggie Miller can be a little brutal at times.

That time slot sucks if you live out here.  You know how hard it is going to be to get to Staples @ 4:00?  Brutal!
Anyway to find out if there is practice information and if it is going to be open to public?

tennbuckeye19's picture

Just saw a tweet from Bob Baptist from the Dispatch that OSU's open practice is Wednesday @ 2:10-3:10 pacific time.

KBonay's picture

Assuming that is @ Staples?

What I don't understand is how we play on a short week Thursday and Arizona gets an extra day off as they played saturday......aren't they supposed to be aligned and on the same amount of rest???? I thought it has been aligned in the past am I crazy

UrbanCulture's picture

I thought this was weird too. If they are going to give a team an extra days rest, make it the higher seeded team that has WAY further to travel

smartfootballrankings's picture

Since they started doing pods, it's impossible to work out while giving pods.
If it weren't for pods, we might have ended up playing somewhere crappy last weekend.  Sunday to Thursday is plenty of rest between games.  I'm not worried about that at all.

buckeye4life050233's picture

I understand it's because of the pods but why wouldn't the higher seeded team or have the advantage of the extra day???

Time slot=NOT GOOD when you have a Physics midterm at precisely 7:50

I remember taking chem midterms at 8:20 last year. That sucked.

What criteria (if any) does the NCAA use to determine teams playing on Friday vs Thursday?  Would've been absolutely ideal for us to have a Friday game.  I feel like an east coast team traveling 3 time zones to play a west coast team should've been given acclimation time.
EDIT: I also posted on the topic last week here...been worried about this for awhile...
