Ohio State has always looked to Cleveland Glenville for talent and recruiting for the 2014 class is no different.
Three rising junior Tarblooders, ATH Marshon Lattimore, S Erick Smith, and OL Marcelys Jones, have already received Buckeye offers, with Jones committing on Christmas and the Ohio State in great shape for Lattimore and Smith.
Marshon Lattimore could be the best player in OhioAll three prospects were in Indianapolis for the Best of the Midwest Combine and it was Lattimore who stood out amongst the pack. The five-star talent posted great numbers with a 10-foot broad jump and a 4.48 40-yard dash time. Lattimore also shined in one-on-one and position drills, leading the entire group in the secondary.
His efforts led to him being named MVP of the group.
The nation's 22nd-ranked overall player is not a one-trick pony, either. Lattimore excelled at wide receiver last season, leading some to believe he could play either position at the next level.
Urban Meyer and his staff told the two-way athlete that he has the choice to play on either side of the ball if he chooses to take his talents to Columbus. It is a proposition the Cleveland product covets.
Lattimore is one of the top priorities for Meyer in the upcoming class. His speed and athleticism are rare, and the Ohio State staff will do everything they can to keep him from leaving their backyard.
Join us after the jump for more on the latest star to put on the Tarblooder uniform, Marshon Lattimore.
You just took a trip to Ohio State a few weeks ago. What was that visit like?
It was a pretty good experience. I got to hang out with the other recruits that attended the game. The coaches talked to me and told me how important I was for this class. Coach Drayton talked to me about continuing to get better on and off the field.
How would you assess your performance at the BOTMW combine?
I was happy with what I did. My speed was there and I showed well at defensive back. It was a fun time. I just want to keep getting better.
Are there any other visits you have planned for the near future?
I want to get out to Tennessee, Louisville, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio State this spring.
Is defensive back still the position you want to play at the next level?
I like defense the most. It would be cool to have the opportunity to play offense and defense in college though.
Has Marcelys Jones been trying to recruit you to Ohio State much?
He talks to me and Erick about playing together in college quite a bit. It is something I'll have to think about.

Good stuff. Let's get this kid.
Fluid. His first few steps after he touches the ball are explosive!
come ride the Urban Express Mr. Lattimore
I like football
Could very easily be the "next" Ted Ginn Jr....
Not a chance... He's an incredible athlete but he doesnt run like Ted Ginn....
My thought's exactly..Ted Jr. speed is Olympics type..
I got it Ytown...
Bucktooooooooth, heeyaw
So given that list, if we don't get him, we blew it big time.
the kids are playing their tail off, and the coaches are screwing it up! - JLS
He didn't say those were his leaders.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Great looking clips!
Much like Jalin last year, Marshon is the most important recruit in this class

Offered by Alabama today
I looked at Rival's Top 250 - is there anybody Alabama doesn't offer to?
The best thing about Pastafarianism? It is not only acceptable, but advisable, to be heavily sauced
They only have 91 guys on scholarship right now...they need another class of 30 or so
Need him.
A ball hawk that can take it to the house. A playmaker on either side of the ball. Urbz is stocking an absurd amount of db talent
He seems to play things pretty close to the vest, is there any chance he goes elsewhere or is he widely believed to be favoring the Buckeyes?
Where does Glenville get these kids? They are loaded at every position every single year. Seriously, is there any program anywhere in the last ten years that has produced more D1 players than Glenville?
Oh, and that kid is sick fast.
To err is human. Really sucking requires having yellow stripes on your helmet.
All over Cleveland. If you're a stud, not Catholic and African American you go to Glenville.
There are NO schools in Ohio who are "allowed" to recruit athletically. You can recruit religion and academics.
No schools are "allowed" to, but you and I both can name about 20 big parochial schools in Ohio that poach talent from everywhere.
Glenville is going to be nasty this year.
Northeast Ohio is an absolute football powerhouse with Mentor, G'ville, Ed's, and Ignatius
Edit- I may be wrong, but I think that Glenville can recruit, and is not bound by geographic boundaries like neighbors Shaw, Collinwood, etc. This means (with Ed's and Iggy's on the westside) that Ginn, sr. has his pick of talent on the eastside of town.
The postgame show is brought to you by... Christ, I can't find it. The hell with it...
@Sharks you are right..but note Shaw has open enrollment, however doesn't have the same track record of getting a lot of kids to school..G-Ville/Ginn Academy draws kids from the area because of the success with kids getting to school D-1 and others...Ed's also pulls a decent number of players from the Eastside of town
What percentage of Glenville players that we offer eventually sign with us? Are the Alabama offers a cause of concern, or are we in pretty good shape to land our guys?
(I'm just starting to follow recruiting throughout the entire cycle, and I sit back and wonder.. Why doesn't every player just sign with us always? ha)
I'm not sure of the percentage but whatever it is it's pretty high I can't think of a glenville kid that we offered and went else where and all three of these kids are tOSU leans and the bama offers don't worrie me at all.
When someone shows you who they are believe them! In other words piss a good friend off and see what they really think about you.
There have been some that went elsewhere. Aundrey Walker (flirted w/OSU but went to USC in 2011 class) comes to mind, but I believe there's been others.
I forgot about ol Andre Walker yep he got caught up in the gilts and glam of southern cal. I remember now thanks!

There was a Scott kid WR a few years ago who dissed us for Illinois. I know, right? ILLINOIS!
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
Cordale Scott, and I believe he transferred out of Illinois after two years and turned into a TE at Toledo.

Hard to believe this kid doesn't commit to urban Meyer!
Prototype player that fits the scheme and urban Meyers offense.
Not to mention he is in our backyard.
Urban Meyer = The Closer ;)
"We have always had the best damn band in the land, now we have the best damn team in the land"- Jim Tressel 1-03-03
He's not Ginn but he fits Urban's system like a glove. Lattimore loves defense but great playmaker for OSU's schemes like Dontre Wilson and Jalin Marshall. Imagine Marshon alongside Jalen Hurd. Nasty!
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
I wouldn't mind seeing him as a Chris Gamble Pt II. Solid in the secondary and can sure as heck run like the best wideouts college football has to offer.
He really attacks the ball well, and seems like he'd be a real ball-hawk at CB. But, his speed, agility, and explosiveness with the ball is elite level, so it is hard to not want to take advantage of that on the offensive side.
Of any/all players we've seen come in to Ohio State since Chris Gamble graduated, Lattimore may be the most suited as a two-way threat. Ginn was obviously highly rated at CB coming out of HS, but I don't know that he had quite the ball skills that Lattimore shows. Marshon's size, speed, and explosiveness seem unique.

Let's make everyone the next someone
Bucktoooooooth, heeyaw.
Let's address all 17 year olds as Mr.
Bucktoooooooth, heeyaw
Let's do neither
Bucktoooooooth, heeyaw
he sets up his blockers well
racecar32
He wants to play defense.
Let's keep the Glenville pipeline going and get this kid!
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Cardale Jones a former Tarblooder?
