Marcelys Jones is Number One for 2014
Buckeye fans got an extra Christmas gift this morning as Cleveland (OH) Glenville OL/DL Marcelys Jones gave his verbal commitment to Urban Meyer today, becoming the first member in Ohio State's 2014 recruiting class.
The 6-5/325 Jones projects as a guard on the offensive line at the college level but the staff has spoken to him recently about playing defensive tackle in Columbus as well.
Jones is a big pick up for OSU as he keeps the Glenville pipeline flowing and starts off a 2014 class that is expected to be one of the best in America.
We'll be catching up with Marcelys in the near future to talk about his commitment, but in the meantime enjoy your Christmas present from Urban Meyer.

This is GREAT news definitely, but what happen to making kids wait until after NSD? Isn't the accepting of this commit a slap in the face to T.Snodgrass, and L.Johnson, the kids that have already tried/wanted to commit, but were told to wait? Not to mention I thought the Glenville kids waited a while I'm happy, but confused as well.
I think it has to do with the position. Looks like they're done with OL this year so they can accept the '14 kids. At LB and WR they still have some potential in '13 that they don't want to scare away.

Snodgrass was having issues with grades, per bucknuts both OSU and ND have decided there are bigger fish out there especially after undefeated regular seasons.

Gotta love this!!! This guy is huge!! I think the Oline will be allright after all.
I don't want to be the one negative nancy on Christmas, but not unlike Tim Garder, this kid has to get rid of some of this bad weight. He's a Tressel lineman right now, but he moves well for his size, and could be a beast if he puts muscle where that fat is.
Give him time, he's still growing into his body... and don't worry once he steps foot on campus, dude will be turned into a machine by Ed Warriner.
Well he'll obviously get a redshirt year, but this is something he needs to focus on in the next year, before he gets on campus to be on the same track as the others in class. A lot of times, even with a redshirt, the guys that don't come in as well conditioned get lost on the depth chart. With a foreseen depth issue at his position, Jones would do himself some good to get on a dietary plan starting now, and the coaches are no doubt talking to him about that now.

Don't believe they talked to eachother about a package deal, but Raekwon tweeted a while back saying if Hand committed to OSU he'd commit on the spot because of how rediculous our D line would be
