Ohio State, Oregon Schedule Series for 2020 & 2021

Ohio State and Oregon have agreed to a home-and-home football series in 2020 and 2021. The Buckeyes will travel to Eugene in 2020 and the Ducks will return the favor in 2021.

“Oregon has developed into one of the premier football programs in the FBS,” Gene Smith, Ohio State Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics, said. “We are excited to add them to our future slate of games.”

The Buckeyes and the Ducks have met eight times previously, including in the 2010 Rose Bowl game, a 26-17 Ohio State win. Ohio State holds an 8-0 advantage in the series. The first meeting between the teams came in the 1958 Rose Bowl, a 10-7 Ohio State win.

In other schedule-related news, the Buckeyes have filled out their 2016 non-conference schedule with the addition of Tulsa and Central Michigan.

+1,000,000,000 for the Duck Hunt image!  AWESOME!

Should be cool. Odds are against Chip Kelly and Pope Urban both coaching that game, but let's hope.

TheHannimal's picture

Right now this is a SEXY match up...by 2020 and 2021 both schools may be playing 3 yards and a cloud of dust type offenses.

You thinkin' what I'm thinkin'?

*EDIT: Here, here, Bucksfan.  I see that great minds think alike; well played, good sir.

Bucksfan's picture

Hodgey, I was about to post mine as a reply to yours on the Buckshot, then it said that site no longer exists...so hell yeah!

Thank you for this sudden scheduling surge Gene Smith

I wonder how ugly Oregon's uniforms will be for those two games.

kr66osu's picture

By then they'll just be wrapping themselves in tin-foil with glitter

Personally, I'm crossing my fingers for body paint.

William's picture

Body painted guys would be a little too extreme. That would be an X-rated football game.

Wow Hodge that would be frightening!  Thanks, now I've got to go and poke out my minds eye.

I wonder if Nike will doing something special for us for that game as well actually.

OldColumbusTown's picture

Good point.  I wouldn't be surprised for both games to receive its own title, like some sort of "Nike Series" with special uniforms/helmets, etc.

I can only imagine if Urbs is still around and got the finely oiled machine in place how this series would look.
I am pumped....

Any news on the Vandy replacement for next year yet?  I'm sure it's too soon to ask, but you never know...

When you're holding a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

luckynewman13's picture

Does anyone have any idea what we're doing about the Vandy vacancy? How quickly do we need to figure that out?
edit: damn you, BAROCLINICITY!!!!!!! :)

Bucksfan's picture

Although....I just saw they rounded out 2016 with Tulsa and Central Michigan.  This is not the scheduling trend that Gene Smith promised us.  I thought no more MAC.

kr66osu's picture

I'm just going to give him a break on that one since we already have at Oklahoma

DetroitBuckeye's picture

Interesting, espn never tells me about the teams we are 8-0 against, only the conferences we are 0-9 against.

Baroclinicity's picture

Why is it called "Home and Home"?  When talking about Ohio State, I see it as a "Home and Away" series.

When you're holding a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

703Buckeye's picture

Because a "home and home" is referring to the deal reached between the teams to play one game at each teams home stadium.

^Yes.    Love it.

I know there's a game Saturday, and my ass will be there.

I'll be 66 years old in 2020 and it's a 7 hour drive to Eugene, OR from Eureka, CA, but I will go if I'm able. It's a five hour drive to Berkeley, CA for the Cal - Ohio State in 2013 and I plan on going...Go Bucks!!!!

Doc's picture

Should be cool.  duck season starts early those years.  By then Braxton will have the entire playbook memorized and be looking for his 6th Heisman.

Awww shit. I have plans on September 12 2020. Looks like I got all exited for nothing.

William's picture

Boom. It'll be my 30th birthday when we play Texas here in Columbus.

Illibuck's picture

2013 looks terrible, we don't play Nebraska or Michigan state. The last home game is Indiana and it is almost an entire month after the second to last home game.  We play Florida A&m and if we are going to play Mac can we at least play a relevant Mac team and not buffalo.

VHX7's picture

Totally agree. 2013 looks like the most boring schedule we've had since 2007, especially if the Big Ten continues sucking. It even has a road trip to play a crappy Pac 12 team, just like 2007 did.

argyle182021's picture

Although Cal isn't the sexiest Pac opponent, the Bay Area is a great place to road trip to.

Flyermike's picture

I am really looking forward to the 2014 slate.  Braxton senior year, year 3 under Urbz, and the first year of the playoff system I believe.  Gene Smith is slowly getting back on the good side of the fanbase.

Man this is awesome.  Duck Hunt is right.  Love the aggressive schedule going forward.

VHX7's picture

Awesome. Hopefully Oregon actually remains consistent unlike every other Pac-10 team we have scheduled besides USC.

bukyze's picture

Hope we have our defense fixed by then !!!

WC Buckeye's picture

Only 11W will still be around in its current (or better) form by then, folks. That's good and that's bad.

Predictions:
1. Oregon will just be coming off the death penalty and bear no resemblance to today's team.
2. Coach Meyer will retire after the 2018 season with 4 NC's (2013, 2014, 2017 and 2018) and a second place (2015).
3. Coach Fickell will be in his second season as head coach; first season finishes 8-5 with a win over AACC and then Miami in a pointless bowl game. From 2014-2017 he helps turn around an ailing Texas program as a DC before being given the HC in waiting job in Urban's last year.
4. The good guys win both games in blowouts

SilverBullet33's picture

I'll be dead for sure. But I'll be cheering the Buckeyes all the same.  BEAT OREGON!!!

BuckeyeInOrlando's picture

Too bad by then Oregon will be a middle of the road Pac12 team, and everyone will say the Bucks never play anyone...

Miami was a national contender when we scheduled them

Cal was top 5 when we scheduled them

E2Brutus's picture

The recent scheduling train that keeps rolling is great. Texas and Oregon are marquee matchups in any year but all this is doing is reminding me of the terrible passing of time and that I will be a few year shy of 40 when I sit down to watch those games... ugh!

buckeyeEddie27's picture

t-bone was talking abou scum's future ooc schedule last nite.   Looks weak sauce.   Yeah Alabama this year....woo-hoo.  what else ya got?

I know there's a game Saturday, and my ass will be there.

the kids who will play in that game are currently in middle school.  where's the scouting reports?

Hopefully, both teams are still power houses.
I want a home and home against a good SEC school though.
