Lewis Neal Makes Lucky Thirteen
Just moments after Florida DE Joey Bosa committed to Ohio State, North Carolina DE/LB Lewis Neal made the call as well, becoming the Buckeye's thirteenth member of the '13 class.
Neal is a consensus 3-star recruit on Rivals, Scout, and 247 Sports and is another product of coach Everett Wither's experience recruiting the Carolinas. He plays defensive end and tight end for Hunt High School (NC) but may play linebacker once he makes the transition to Columbus.
Neal chose Ohio State over Clemson, North Carolina, Maryland, NC State, and Tennessee.
Here is a photo of Lewis at the 'Shoe on Saturday.
Coach Meyer (and staff) has kept the excitement level through the roof, since Saturday's game, with these two defensive commitments this morning.

Welcome to Buckeye Nation, Lewis!
Do we know where he projects to play?
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
OLB/DE....maybe LEO but I think more of an OLB so could be a VIPER which was last seen when Bobby Carpenter was here....LEO is a DE who drops back in coverage...VIPER is an OLB that plays with his hand dopwn at times
He is being recruited as a LB... most likey in the LEO (DE/LB hybrid OLB) spot... he took Love's spot
I actually really like this commitment... we didn't really get a LEO last class (Marcus could fill the role, but it wouldn't be a perfect fit) and this leaves one more LB spot... I'm guessing they'll hold out for Jaylon Smith and if he goes elsewhere offer Kimbrough who will most likely commit on the spot
Cause I couldn't go for three
been hearing a lot about how kimbrough would commit if he could... know next to nothing about him, so why are people saying that? just curious
I know he's visited a lot on his own... talks about tOSU being in hsi top 2 or 3 without an offer... He will be camping and working his ass off for an offer
Cause I couldn't go for three
Out of curiosity - are we recruiting any French Canadians that anyone is aware of? I was at the airport yesterday and there were 4-5 guys, most of them in their 30s or 40s, but one looked to be in his late teens, speaking French, holding Canadian passports, and all decked out in Ohio State Football gear.
not at all....
Cause I couldn't go for three
Don't know if he was french canadian, but I seem to remember a 2014 guy from Canada who is looking for a high school in the states for his senior year. Maybe someone else has a better memory...
I wouldn't be too upset if we shut down LB if we miss on Jaylon. Give that scholly to a LB or WR

I think this staff wants two true LBers and one tweener... Anzalone is your first true and Neal is your tweener... This is totally dependent on what Jaylon wants to do. If he keeps waiting and the staff sees that they are in good shape to land multiple other big targets they very well could take just two... I'm looking at the secondary here... I think it's either 3 LBers or 5 DBs, just depends on who wants in (Bell, Cravens, or Mackenzie v. Smith)
Cause I couldn't go for three
This is supposed to say OL or WR not LB...

Good get for the Leo; time for the big push for OL's and WR's. I want Pocic bad.
"It's just another case of there you are". ~ Doc (1918-2012)
Needs to work on technique and stop leaving his feet on some of his moves.
Make Will-Way your Way!
Looks like a class of 19, at 13 schollies currently, with 1 going to TE Heuerman, 2 to WR Quick and Gibson, 2 more to OT, and 1 more to LB.
I wouldn't be surprised if they take a safety, too. Paging Vonn Bell..
Agreed.
I agree.. I think that the staff will go after the top of their lists right now HARD (Bell/Alexander, Smith, Pocic (late push for Tunsil?), Gibson/Treadwell/Quick) try and see if they can get a couple of big names before finding the camp gems to fill the last few spots
Cause I couldn't go for three
I really hope we are holding a spot for Derrick Green. From Alex's conversations with him it sounded like Ohio State was at the top of his list and he was only holding out so he could create a couple of opportunities for his teammates to attend college and play football, too. I'd hate for him to miss out, not just because he's a great player or because he's been a long-time Buckeyes fan, but because he was doing a really admirable thing for his teammates.
Class of 2008
247 and Rivals think he's a VIPER position.
Keep putting push pins all over the map. California, Texas, Florida, North Carolina, Ohio. Major states are all taken care of. Pennsylvania was done last year with Spence.
Anzalone is from PA as well as Spence
Don't forget Ezekiel Elliot from Missouri
very nice. How about an 11W map with locations marked. I said it in another post, this recruiting class is already stacked with top talent at every position. All the rest are gravy and can now build relationships with top schools across the nation. I have no qualms if Urban brings in a 2 star if its from a HS powerhouse so he can get/keep his foot in the door for when they have those 5 stars. I don't want to think of it as using a kid as leverage to get into a strong pipeline but if the kid gets a solid education and gets to play for TBDTITL, no harm there!
Not going to have a problem bringing in top talent. Maximizing where you can get that top talent is the real key.
Maybe we take 20, on a stud like Bell, but I think 20 will be our max for this year
I'd say we're at 15 with Huerman and Gibson.
Agreed. I think the coaches aready know they are both (Huerman & Gibson) on board. If so, I'd be happy with a few more OL guys...maybe one more receiver. Everyone wants Jaylon Smith but I think they are pretty stacked at LB. Either way if Neal is the Jamaal Marcus of this year - I'm a fan. Welcome aboard...

Soooo what happens if we run out of space in like July?
Then we have a very boring few months after the Michigan game

We start focusing on 2014
Yep, paging Raekwon McMillan?
McMillan, Byrne, Crest, Kizer, Barker, Booth, Haden, etc.
unreal news for a monday morning... love it!
WELCOME to the Buckeye Nation Lewis!!! You're going to have a blast crushing Big Ten offenses!!!
The best thing about Pastafarianism? It is not only acceptable, but advisable, to be heavily sauced
Two gray boxes of goodness in one day and the day isn't over yet.
More to come folks, more to come. I like this guy a lot. Not an instant impact type player IMO but I think a couple years here and he is a stud, especially with the great players around him.
Welcome Lewis!
A DL on the kick off team? He looks like a beast.
what a monday.
Welcome Lewis! Looks like another Thad Gibson type..maybe plays on the opposite side of Bosa as a Leo or weak side DE in the future?

Welcome to The Ohio State University Lewis!
Coach Withers has a very keen eye for recruiting (just look at the guys he brought to UNC).
Even with this kid being a three star, I think we have a diamond in the rough.
Not sure who this new David Sokol guy is but something tells me he is a star in the making. Alex better watch out!
Big Ups Dave, keep the stellar reporting coming!
