PAIRS WELL WITH GRASS

Two great opening weekend games and they both kickoff at the same time. To the Steele lair!

At least Colorado at Hawaii makes a perfect nightcap. You know, from a scouting while drinking perspective.

Was the UM-WM game...official?

A story on ESPN's own website suggests, it was not:

"Michigan and Western Michigan mutually agreed to end their game with 1:27 left in the third quarter. Michigan will win, 34-10."

"A Notre Dame spokesman said teams must play three full quarters for the game to be official, according to the NCAA."

Looks like ABC/ESPN/Disney media empire, was very determined to make sure that LSU-ORE game started on time.

ND and SOFLA are playing, at the moment.

Western Michigan conceded. As per the rules....game over.

Hoody Wayes's picture

The headline reads: "Storm forces Michigan to end game."

I take it, said storm was, ABC.

Hoody Wayes's picture

NBC's still covering the ND game - which is in its second weather delay.

That was the worst punt return in the history of football I think.

Can't wait till Oregon gets back to being a middle of the pack Football team. Their cheesy uniforms and circus offense can F'itslef!

LSU defense: 100% big, freakishly athletic, brothas.

First Auburn struggles with Utah State, now Georgia is getting mauled at home by Boise. Not a great day for the SEC.

But LSU is about to blow their game wide open.

The press slobbers over Oregon's offense.  The points, the speed, the tempo!  My God the tempo!

From recent memory, against any decent out of conference team the last year or two, they've mustered:

8, 17, 19 and now 13 points (still time left, granted).

The worldwide leader and other talking heads try to tell us how Oregon controls the offensive game, when in fact they are the ones generally receiving the dictation.

Keith's picture

Hey, they made the 20s!

Oregon offense is wonderful against the Wash St's, but when they play a team with speed they struggle.   But that still doesn't stop Herbie from getting a big choad when talking about them.

I'm going to have to disagree. Oregon is right near the top when it comes to "team speed" and does fine against fast teams. What they struggle with is defensive and offensive lines with NFL caliber talent and depth. That's the thing that pretty much every team that has beaten them has in common.

They are very undersized on defense and good offensive lines tend to run them over. On offense they run a very fast tempo but can't wear out a line that runs 10 deep (Boise St., Ohio State, Auburn, LSU), so again their size catches up to them. Their offensive line is very small outside of their right tackle.

Jason Priestas's picture

I was wondering if it's time to start up the "Oregon can't beat anyone outside of the Pac-X" meme. I think it is.

Kurt's picture

After the game I couldn't help but think about this as well.

But seriously, how bad is LSU's offense?  That was an all-around terrible game.

William's picture

LSU's offense will consist of handing it off to Ware and their other  running back. It's quite obvious how teams with big, athletic D-lines give Oregon serious trouble.

Bucks's picture

How great is it to have our first game under our belt, game funnies over in buckshots (ND & Auburn) & watching some primetime ball. Very nice. Very nice indeed.

Run_Fido_Run's picture

Herby is upset that holding was called against LSU.

Run_Fido_Run's picture

I wonder if UGA will burn their unis after this game.

TLB's picture

I think they knew their team was bad and were hoping nobody would know it was UGA playing that game.  All around awful.

TLB's picture

Man..........Colorado is an awful football team

Irricoir's picture

I think Oregon's tempo makes them reckless. It reminds of this guy...

Yeah that about sums it up.

I don't always take names when I kick ass but when I do, they most often belong to a Wolverine.
