While reporters from around the state and country were bombarding Ohio State with FOI requests related to Tressel, Doug Archie, Gene Smith, Edward Rife, tattoos, cars, tickets and everything else under the sun, Deadspin was getting meta and filing requests asking for the public records requests that other reporters had filed.
What follows is the correspondence between Ohio State and several press outlets. It ranges from the super-polite Doug Lesmerises of the Cleveland Plain Dealer to ESPN who came with the "we know you have 10 days to fulfill this request, but could you please hook us up in five so we can get the dirt into our latest issue, a hit piece on your school?"

This is what "investigative journalism" is, sifting through emails until you find a story? I don't konw, I just imagined some sexy fact finding process.
I don't remember if it made the Mag, but I kind of hope that the OSU person in charge of providing these people with info sent ESPN their requested records 6 days after the request was made. Just to spite them.
