Not to Get Anyone's Hopes Up, But...

Seantrel Henderson will not sign his letter of intent with USC until he finds out if they're in the clear from the NCAA. The Trojans will appear before an NCAA infractions committee from Feb 19-21.

No time better than now for a postseason banhammer we say!

The "specter of NCAA probation" is hardly breaking news... Everyone who follows college football has heard the story about Reggie Bush's parents house, and the SUV Joe McKnight was driving around...

seantrel's dad in the article about The Vest: “He’s so informative and so to the point and so much about business, that it was a little boring,” Sean Henderson said.

Give me a break. Tressel's a professional and conducts himself as such. If that's "boring" then maybe we're better off without the guy.

agreed, this kid's dad is really starting to rub me the wrong way.. sorry if the Vest is not "street cred" enough for him like fellow prima donna coaches named lane and urban

I like this note, too:
The day after U.S.C.’s visit, Miami Coach Randy Shannon made his home visit, but it was delayed by an hour and a half while Seantrel was having his hair done.

A match made in heaven. Sounds like a classic head case to me. Good riddance Seantrel. Here's to landing Aundrey Walker in 2011-The Real Deal.

Couldn't agree more. Seantrel deserves LA and sanctions or Miami and STDs. I don't care if this kid is the next Orlando Pace. This article is made me throw up in my mouth.

Well, he's not saying anything we didn't already know. I would hate to listen to Tressel for a whole hour. However, I would douse myself in holy water if Lane Kiffin walked within 50 feet of me. If Seantrel would rather play for Lane Kiffin then good riddance.

maybe I was a weird kid, but if at 18 I was a big time recruit and a coach had sat me down and was honest and upfront with me and treated me like an adult, I'd have signed with that dude in a second.

Also:

Henderson said Floyd wrote to beware of “fake coaches out there” that “want you for the wrong reasons,”

Hahahahahaha SO HE SIGNS WITH LANE KIFFIN

Did your father have ice on his ears for your national television debut? No? Definitely a weird kid, then.

What about this beaut:

Sean Henderson and Lane Kiffin graduated four years apart from Minneapolis area high schools. Henderson also thought it was interesting that U.S.C. would appear before the N.C.A.A.’s committee on infractions from Feb. 19-21 because Seantrel’s two sisters have birthdays on Feb. 20 and Feb. 21.

“It’s just a lot,” he said. “It kind of seems like fate to a certain extent.”

haha yes i read that too, i just feel like seantrel's dad is trying to re-live his youth through his son... almost too much (the over the top earings, the hair, all the media attention). its almost now as if we hear more from sean henderson than seantrel henderson. i guess everyone is recruiting his dad now?

-- my best evaluation of this situation:
http://missfairchild.files.wor...

starring sean henderson (pops) as the pink brain, krang from TMNT.. and the mammoth creature, seantrel..

w/e im probably reading into this magnificient article too much but the whole situation is just odd.

My additional take....

Which of these two scenarios is the most likely;

1) Seantrel Henderson made his announcement on CBS, and before he could find a fax machine, Jim Tressel took a time machine into the future, then returned with the LA Times from this summer, which had a headline discussing the sanctions that the NCAA placed on USC. Henderson then decided to hold off on his decision.

or

2) Seantrel Henderson didn't have his mind made up and wanted a few more weeks to decide, but upon seeing that CBS had spent a lot of money to fly his family to NYC, thought it would look pretty bad on his part if he didn't officially announce on live TV. Under that pressure, he made a choice for the cameras, but later regretted it.

I go with option 2, but I hear that option 1 is popular with the same crowd that believes a plane never struck the Pentagon or that Neil Armstrong was filmed doing his moon thingy in a studio in the Arizona desert.

Still a good class without this kid. What is up with Henderson's Dad? That guy is a joke. Nice braids pops. Only thing missing is a bottle of colt 45 and a chevy sitting up on 22" boomin straight outa' compton. He could have had it all on the eastside of columbus. Such a shame.

Race has little to do with it. It is more of a class thing or just growing up to be a father not a wanna be pimp.
They played the game well im sure they will get the Reggie Bush Treatment if the NCAA doesnt' put a stop to it. JT is running a clean program.

Buckeye Nation, I wouldn't get to wrapped up about the whole recruiting thing. I could care less about how many 5 star recruits we get. You want to know why? I have stated it before (as someone else on 11W has) and I will say it again "for some reason, when a recruit is coming to OSU, their rating goes down". Also, I am going to give a little list of former players that were considered no 3 and 4 stars but went on to be pretty good at OSU:

Troy Smith 4 star
James Little Animal 3 star
AJ Hawk 3 star
Kurt Coleman 4 star
Anthony Gonzalez 4 star
Santonio Holmes 3 star
Malcolm Jenkins 3 star

I have followed recruiting for 16 years now & I know how rare it is for us to get a signing day decision guy. As many others have pointed out they just aren't Tressel type recruits. It is really a shame that the staff keeps letting this happen to them. It would have been much better if they had cast their net wider for OL and made sure we got more than 1. Huge recruiting failure there.

And all that talk from the Henderson camp about integrity and stabiltiy? A huge pile of BS. I hope he doesn't reconsider and sigh with the Buckeyes. We don't need the issues the father brings.

After reading those quotes about the dad, I'd guess that if there are problems at USC, he'll ultimately sign with Miami. OSU and this guy just doesn't seem like a good fit.

Yea, let this argument die. We see what happens when teams full of 4- 5 stars take on teams full of 3-4 stars with a 5 star sprinkled in. A few 3 stars surprise you, most don't. We need to land these 5 stars!
