Blame Florida

Looks like the early rumors are turning out to be true. This is a correction to an earlier ESPN report that the injury happened in Cincinnati, BTW.

The source said he suffered the injury in Florida at a bar. Moeller was with family members when he was punched and hit his head. Moeller did not provoke his attacker, according to the source.

Moeller was not immediately hospitalized after the incident. He had a seizure last Thursday during a team activity and was admitted to the hospital, where he underwent a procedure this weekend to the relieve swelling on his brain.

The source told Rittenberg that Moeller’s attacker has been identified and faces charges.

    disgusting

I’m not sure how much trouble I’ll get in for posting this “premium” information, but Dave Biddle, who works at Bucknuts, adds different details.

    http://bucknuts.com/forums/showpost.php?p=766298&postcount=64

I posted it on my blog since I don’t think you can read it unless you’re a paid subscriber. http://www.ourhonordefend.com/2009/08/some-more-details-on-tyler-moeller.php

ESPN should feel real stupid (like, reeeeally stupid) for posting the story they did about a brawl in Cincinnati.

  3. Vico says:

Apparently ESPN is going out of it way to not admit its error too, including deleting comments from Buckeye fans caling them out for their version of the story: http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/forum/buckeye-football/13586-lb-tyler-moeller-official-thread-43.html

  4. BuckeyeChief says:

Amazing. Hopefully, he will recover, and I really hope that this wasn’t a UF fan trying to be a tough guy. I am hoping a true fan of any team wouldn’t stoop to that level. Trash talking is one thing, but to “steal” on somebody…

At this point, I am gonna start taking the fam to Disney Land (CA), and never spend another dime in FLA…

  5. BuckeyeChief says:

    Vico,

No correction or admission, but they did add Rose and Small’s academic problems.

    O H

  6. Buckeyes says:

Sucks however it went down. Pray for the best.

  7. Buckeyeholicwompa says:

What a bang up job to ESPN for changing their article so many times on this subject!!!! Adam Rittenberg just got that much more funny!

  8. WeAreSC says:

If the “sucker punch” story is accurate, that is absolutely disgusting behavior by the perpetrator. These situations are rarely simple as one person just punching another, but I have to think that if charges are being pressed against this idiot, it is probably closer to the truth than not.

Therefore, you have to wonder why this douche thought it was acceptable to assault another human being unprovoked. And if he is completely incapable of conducting himself with an iota of decency to another human, then he should find himself in good company in prison.

Fight On, Tyler Moeller! Heal quickly and get back on the football field!

  9. Bucksfan says:

I personally hold the entire state of Florida responsible for this. Karma will be a bitch for all of them this season!

    • James says:

you hold the entire state of Florida responsible? You have got to be kidding? Could you say that in the state of Ohio an innocent person doesnt get beat upside the head and put in the hospital? that its never happen? you dont care about them because it doesnt effect you.

      • Bucksfan says:

James, go back to the swamp you crawled out of.

        • Brian says:

I’m pretty sure there are a lot of fans in Florida, and one that I know posts on here all the time. Listen, it was a bar, stupid shit happens at bars all the time. If this was a event that happened in Cincinnati, I don’t think you’d hold the whole state of ohio responsible or refuse to spend a dime in Cincinnati. I really hate that you lose a guy for the whole season based on something like this. It was an awful assault and you hate that it happened. However, if someone bashed Tebow in the head at a bar in Ohio, I don’t think that most Buckeye fas would be praising the idiot who hit him.

          • Bucksfan says:

God, some of you guys are such pansies. My comment was meant to be toward Floridians…obviously not directed towards Ohio State fans in Florida. Jeez! You think I insulted your mother or something. I hate Florida, Florida State, and Miami. If I can’t come on a BUCKEYE thread and express that hatred when A BUCKEYE PLAYER gets clobbered while on vacation with his family…like so many other Ohioans do, including myself…then where do I go? I guess you’d just rather me sit here and hate on Ohio State the way guys like Sam or SECfan does or whatever.

The poll question yesterday was about Buckeye superstition about AJ Trepasso’s fake punt for a TD being a good omen for the Buckeye’s 09 season. 2/3 of the fans said they thought it was a good sign! How come I can’t say that Moeller getting sucker punched in a bar is a bad sign for Florida teams?! College football is WAR, and we’re about 3 weeks from its beginning.

“It was a bar, stupid shit happens at bars all the time.” Bullshit statement. I hope the guy does 6 months in jail for assault.

            Eff Florida.

          • Brian says:

I’m not saying what he did wasn’t criminal, I’m just saying stuff like this happens in bars all the time. I was at a bar tonight and some random dude off the street came in and was starting shit with everyone in there. I do think it’s stupid to say you hold the state of Florida responsible. It wasn’t an anti-buckeye person punching him, it was a tough guy trying to be a bad ass. That was my whole point.

  10. Tay says:

Damn. How many times did they change their story? Great reporting ESPN. And Joe Schad’s cred just exited stage right.

  11. BuckeyeChief says:

    Damn. I’ll do it myself.

    I O

  12. Buckeye Jer says:

of course espn would cover for florida’s ass. i love how they screw up and can’t admit that they were wrong. they are such dumb shits but play it up as though they know everything. it’s even more funny as it was reported as happening in cincinnati. everybody knows about first impressions, and to merely edit without a retraction is sloppy and unprofessional journalism.

and this deleting of buckeye fans’ comments from the comment section is unreal. espn can write up articles about the dirt on players and universities, but they won’t allow espn subscribers to complain about their shoddy articles and research. they are defensive as hell, too. i hate them all from shlabach to forde. bunch of college football jock strap sniffing writers.

    • Jaymz77 says:

They have to cover up for the SEC as much as they can now that they have that TV deal.

      • Brian says:

The TV deal will just ensure that even when the SEC isn’t the best conference ESPN will tell us they are. I’m not convinced they are that far and above everyone else anyway, but we’ll debate that another time.

  13. Ryan B. says:

I hope the guy gets the book thrown at him. What a chump for sucker punching somebody.

  14. BuckeyeChief says:

    JAMES-
Actually, I don’t feel like spending a dime there because of overall misery not one event. It’s a beautiful place, Miami is great, and I actually do have a bunch of respect for Tebow and wish him luck at the next level.

HOWEVER this is a Buckeye board and I am Allowed to be bitter and angry here.
