Fiesta Bowl Score Contest
The line has narrowed to 8, so the betting public believes the Fiesta Bowl will be closer than the 11 point opening gap. What about you? Think you can nail the correct final score?
If so, you’ll be the lucky winner of two t-shirts from Ryan and the good people at Homage Clothing*. If nobody gets the exact score, we’ll award one t-shirt to the entry that comes closest.
Though we’re pretty big fans of our own shirts, the collection Homage has put together is pretty stellar. Plenty of Buckeye shirts along with many other themes, all having a weathered, vintage feel to them. I actually own the shirt pictured and it’s easily in my own personal top three.
The fine print:
- Must be 18 years-old or older.
- One entry/comment per person.
- Your entry/comment must include a valid email address. Comments without email addresses attached to them will be deleted.
- Duplicate predictions are ineligible — first come, first serve.
- Deadline for entries is kickoff.
* You may have also seen the Homage ad on the sidebar as they’ve come on as our first official sponsor. If you have your own small business or know of someone that does and they’d like a way to reach thousands of intelligent, good-looking Buckeye fans, drop us a line.

Holy Buckeye!
Bucks 31
Steers and Queers 21
After all if Northwestern can hang with Mizzou we should more than hang with Tejas.
Reverse psychology or lack of confidence in coaching changes.

OSU 24-28 UT. Hope I’m wrong but that t-shirt is looking snazzy.
OSU 25, UT 22
Ohio State 30 Texas 27
Texas 44, Ohio State 27
Both Ohio State and Texas played laughers against NW and Missouri. I wouldn’t get much confidence from that game.
Ohio State – 42
Texas – 28
Bucks-42
Longhorns-38
31-28 buckeyes win a close one.
bonus prediction: malcolm jenkins has a pick six.
So far, Ohio State’s opponents have fared horribly in bowl games, with Wisconsin being the biggest disaster of the post season for any conference. NW played well, I guess better than expected. But they had the game in their grasp and completely blew it under pressure (sound familiar?). When the line for Ohio State-Texas came out at 11, I thought, “Woah, that’s insane.” It was right after we iced 3 straight opponents, and clobbered Michigan in what looked like the hardest hitting, most intense game our defense played all year. Beanie looked unstoppable, and TP was coming around and making things happen.
But, after a few weeks of NOT thinking about Ohio State football, it becomes clear to me that it is unlikely our Buckeyes will be able to fix the game strategy/big-game mentality that they’ve had the last couple of seasons. It all goes back to that Florida game – what a cancer that has proven to be, regardless if anyone admits to it or not. Couple that with the fact that Texas has played in, and won, more big games this season against a lot of total-package teams, and Ohio State flubbed shots against USC and Penn State, and you get a recipe for another disaster in the desert.
Texas 47 – Ohio State 17. Close for a half, but Texas makes the right adjustments and blows our doors off. Mack Brown blows people away in bowl games. That’s his calling card.
Go Bucks, but we’ll likely be going back to Columbus-town with a 3rd straight bowl debacle. The only chance Ohio State has is for TP to realize his destiny like Neo in The Matrix, and outshine McCoy. Tall order for a freshman.
I know we said we’d delete entries without an email address, which the above does not have, but the writeup was too valuable to remove. If you want your pick to count as an entry, shoot me an email at jason @ this URL and I’ll hook you up.
I don’t know where you get the idea that Mack Brown “blows people away”
Last six Texas bowl games:
W vs. Arizona State 52-34
W vs. Iowa 26-24
W vs. USC 41-38
W vs. Michigan 38-37
L vs. Washington State 20-28
W. vs. LSU 35-20
Outstanding record, to be sure, but he is not a blowout maestro in any sense of the word. Mack Brown has never been one to run up the score, that’s why I don’t think Texas hits 50 or anything ridiculous like that, unless it has to. Which is unlikely, to put it kindly.
Ohio State 45 —- Texas 42 in one of the greatest bowl games of all time.
This isnt going to be a high scoring game. Either it will be close and low scoring, or Texas slams OSU (which I dont think will happen). OSU cannot get into a shootout. They need to control the game.
I say the seniors and fire power that everyone was talking about at the beginning of the season comes through (finally) and OSU stuns Texas 24-21.
OSU 27
Texas 24
51 – 48 in triple overtime. Bucks win.
Buckeyes over UT in a squeeker, 21-17. At least one of our scores will be defensive or special teams.
33-20 UT wins
dammit
31 Texas
24 Ohio state
hope im wrong
Dont know why it said anonymous. Fadeproof says 34-31.
Fadeproof, are you posting from an iPhone?

Yes. Posting from iPhone.
Sorry, looks like there was a bug in the iPhone skin. Should be fixed now, but we’ll go ahead and count your entry and I’ll just get an email from you if you win.
Next Vince Young: 20
Not Vince Young: 28
While I’d love to win the shirts, I’d much rather be wrong.
OSU 31
Texas 17
I hope I’m wrong but, unfortunately, here’s my realistic prediction:
Shooter (shoulda won the heisman) McCoy – 47
Sweater McVestin – 21
Please win this, OSU. But if not, no shame at all. Texas is a great team (fans are very cool too. I got lots o’ UT friends and Austin is a kick ass town)
Ohio State 27
Texas 30
At least I hope it’s this close.
I’m a huge Bucks fan and I want to see this team come out loose for a change in a big game. I just don’t have a lot of faith right now in the way this team has been prepared for bowl games the last 3 years. I think they can keep it close for 3 quarters, but let’s be honest people….Texas is the better team and should be playing for a national title.

Defense keeps it 10-3 Texas in first half, then all Horn in the second.
Please god let me be wrong as usual.
17-10 Buckeyes
I’m gonna go with a “lucky” score.
42-39.
Now that my real prediction is over (hint, hint–please don’t disqualify me, this isn’t a prediction), I’d love to see a 24-7 score, but I don’t think that’ll happen.
Ohio State- 38
Texas- 7
True story. While enjoying life here in a hot foreign wasteland away from my family during the holidays (and bowl season). I had a very vivid dream. A dream which started with an “old man” FG at the half to give us a 12-9 halftime lead. How we held them to 9 pts I’m not sure. It doesn’t matter, vivid dreams must be trusted !! At any rate, in the 2nd half we get a Anderson Russell pick 6. During the kickoff Texas “gets Homan-ed” and fumbles. Giving us the ball at the 17 or so. From the pistol its Beanie off the right side for a TD. Giving us a 26-9 lead. In the dream I remember it being in the 4th at this point. My Feeling is if we’ve held them to 9 til the 4th why not keep it up. SO, my completely biased/crazy guess (based on an actual dream) is…
