when I was still thinking that OSU had an outside shot at the Big Dance even after the first round burnout, I wasn't expecting Georgia to win the SEC. I think that'll do it for our tourney chances. I would love to be wrong, of course.
I recommended it ... so I bought one. Thanks for the "Go for 3" shirt!
Awesome.
Is it still ok to make fun of Kent St if we don't get in?
Oregon a 9 seed? really?... really?
It is ALWAYS ok to make fun of Kent State regardless of what happens in life.
kent read kent write kent state
wow kentucky and arizona
well that blows.
Welp. Whatevs.
Yeah, Arizona at 19-14, wow.
Goddammit. the Pac 10 is exceptional, but why Oregon and Arizona get in is beyond me.
SEC ruins everything! NIT selection show begins at 9 on ESPN2 if anyone cares.
this is rediculious, kentucky, arizona, oregon? get in but we don't! we got robbed, forget this. So i guess in the NIT Virgina Tech, Arizona St, and Ohio State will be number 1 seeds. lol
Perhaps we should schedule a little easier in the non-conf.
oh and an florida to that list
Chris and I were just laughing about the fact that we'll have to head to the sports book at Circus Circus to catch NIT games this weekend.
The games will be presented in all of their glory in a ring of 100 15" black and white televisions surrounding the book. The NIT is in UHF!
georgia may be the worst team to ever make the tournament.
wisconsin kind of got the shaft with a 3 seed. they should have been a two.
I still have to know how Arizona makes the tournament. They won one tournament game (against Oregon State, who was winless in conference for the season) before burning out against Stanford. Arizona State beats them twice and doesn't get in. Arizona State is at least .500 in conference where Arizona is not. They beat Illinois, I guess, but so did we... twice. They hung in with Kansas on the road before narrowly losing... same story for Ohio State in Knoxville. Dayton or Arizona State would've been much better choices there.
And as for Georgia? Might very well be the worst basketball team from a big-6 conference to crash the tourney (as Kyle said), and proof positive why dangling the carrot of an automatic bid for conference tournaments is a profoundly dumb idea. 30 game resumes are much more accurate proxies of how "good" a team is, not 3 game resumes.
I agree completely with everything you say, especially about Georgia, but I still like the conference tourney auto-bids. This Georgia selection sucks beyond all comprehension, but it's pretty cool that every team in America gets a 2nd life at their conference basketball tournaments.
I think Wisky a 3, MSU a 5, IU an 8 and Purdue a 6 shows us what the committee thought of the Little 11.
Check out the non-conf. schedules of some of the at large teams.
Ours was tougher than Oregon, K-State, Miami, WVA, Villanova, Baylor, A&M, Miss St. UNLV, Kentucky.

"I think Wisky a 3, MSU a 5, IU an 8 and Purdue a 6 shows us what the committee thought of the Little 11."
Absolutely correct. Indiana an 8? Yikes.
OSU has no one but itself to blame. The inexcusable losses to Iowa, m*ch*g*n and Minnesota were devastating. That said, I'm not sure the committee would have put them in with those three wins on their belt. OSU needed to go at least one round in the Big T(elev)en tournament, and couldn't.
Ah, well. Let's hope for a good run in the NIT, some playing time for the bench, and some valuable practice time for next year.
My bracket's on the way. Try not to laugh, everyone. :)
neat, we get to play the 8'112 guy in the first round of the NIT. That'll be... err, that'll be something to do...
Joe, is it too hard to spell out Michigan?
I've been telling you guys for over a year that I REALLY REALLY hate Georgia. However, it will make me REALLY REALLY happy when they get waxed by 25 or more points by Xavier.
"Joe, is it too hard to spell out Michigan?"
Actually, it takes more effort to use the asterisks, not less.
