Minnesota has won 11 games in a season for the first time since 1904.

The Big Ten West runners-up finished their season with an 11-2 record after they upset Auburn, 31-24, in the Outback Bowl on Wednesday.

Minnesota dominated the game more than the final score showed, as the Gophers had 494 total yards of offense while Auburn had only 232. Tyler Johnson was Minnesota's star of the day through the air, catching 12 passes for 204 yards – including a 73-yard touchdown and a spectacular one-handed grab in the back of the end zone – while the Gophers ran for 215 yards on the ground, including 140 yards from running back Mohamed Ibrahim.

Big Ten teams went 1-1 in bowl games against SEC opponents on Wednesday, as Alabama defeated Michigan, 35-16. Indiana and Tennessee will face off in a tiebreaking battle at the Gator Bowl on Thursday night.
