If you're wondering what exactly you're looking at, teams toward the right are the best at recruiting elite pass-rushing talent. Teams towards the top are the best at developing pass-rushing talent. Ohio State is almost off the damn chart in both categories.
And this is why the "Larry Johnson is only great because he gets the best players" #take doesn't really hold any weight. Because according to these Wins Above Average numbers, his pass rushers end up an average of more than three times more valuable than you'd project based on their recruiting rankings. That's insane, especially when they're already the best players in the class.
Also, it's not lost on me that this is from an account called "Michigan Football Analytics." Whichever Wolverine put this chart together must be an elite-level masochist.
FIELDS FINANCIAL. I've got a strong hunch that Justin Fields is going to do just fine with throwing a football professionally (being real, he's probably already in the top 0.001% on that front before even playing a professional snap).
But in another life, it sure sounds like he could be a financial advisor. And he's got some solid advice for his former peers.
“My plan right now is to not really touch any of my contract money and just pretty much live off of the marketing money,” Fields said.

Fields cautioned current college athletes to seriously consider their branding deals.
“They’re hungry to get to the money, but I think they can definitely get taken advantage of with different brands. It’s important for them to know their worth,” Fields said.
I will personally put that advice into practice as I continue my quest for an Arby's endorsement. I, too, plan to live off of my marketing money.

BEST DAMN DOC IN THE LAND. If you've got a free two hours this weekend (or just want to steal two hours of your boss' time today – I don't judge), The Best Damn Band in the Land just rolled out a beast of documentary giving us commoners an inside look at a season in The Ohio State University Marching Band.
The doc – which in full disclosure I have not yet watched in its entirety – follows the 141st season of the marching band, which was the 2018 football season, meaning you'll get an extremely unique look at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and that glorious 62-39 beatdown of Michigan in the Big House.
Sign me up.
CELEBRATING A LEGEND. John Glenn, who is a proper national hero, would have turned 100 years old on Sunday. So Ohio State's helping throw a banger to celebrate.
The Glenn College will be participating in a centennial celebration planned for July 16-18 in the towns of Cambridge, Glenn’s birthplace, and New Concord, where he and his wife, Annie, grew up.
On July 17, a special Friendship 7-Mile Parade from Cambridge to New Concord is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with pre- and post-parade remarks by Glenn’s daughter, Lyn Glenn, Trevor Brown, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown and others.
University Libraries’ Ohio Public Policy Archives has created a new John Glenn exhibit on the ground floor of Page Hall. Students, faculty, staff and the public are invited to view the exhibit from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The exhibit includes memorabilia from:
- Glenn’s relationship with Ohio State
- His life and childhood
- His relationship with his wife, Annie
- His military, space and public service careers

The Glenn College is developing plans to hold a series of events during the 2021-2022 academic year that will celebrate Glenn’s life of service. The college expects to announce events this fall.
John Glenn isn't just a national hero, he's a personal hero of mine. I have strong memories of five-year-old me dressing up in a blue NASA flight suit and pretending I was John Glenn orbiting the Earth. Because of him, I dreamed I would one day be an astronaut (that clearly went well).
Needless to say, even though I doubt I'll get to see the exhibit in person, Ohio State's got us out-of-towners covered with a series of videos that I will certainly be checking out.
