Ryan Day is having fun in today's Skull Session.

May the Fourth be with you.

Our esteemed intern Avery was one of the many Buckeyes graduating from home this weekend. I offer my sincerest congratulations to genuinely one of the finest interns we've ever had at this here website, but my words are nothing compared to The King's.

That glorious congratulation has done nothing but confirm my belief that all Ohio State degrees should by signed by Cardale Jones as well.

Song of the Day: "Cemetary" by Say Anything.

Word of the Day: Perorate.

NOT SLOWING DOWN. Ohio State's damn near lapping everyone else in recruiting the 2021 class to the point where some teams might just wanna wave the white flag and look towards next year. Trouble is, next year is already looking bleak too.

We're not even deep enough into the 2022 cycle to have composite ratings, but Ryan Day and co. are already near the top of next year's recruiting rankings, too.

To put that in perspective, Ohio State currently has more four-star commits in the 2022 class than Alabama does in the 2021 class (can we get a wellness check on Nick Saban?).

Remember when there was concern that recruiting would take a dip under Ryan Day?

CAUTIOUS OPTIMISM. A few weeks ago, we had genuinely no idea if sports – or students, for that matter – could return to campus by the fall. But today, the NCAA's chief medical officer is cautiously optimistic we'll have fall sports, provided we've got the proper testing.

Widespread testing for coronavirus will be crucial to having college sports in the fall — especially contact sports such as football and basketball, the NCAA’s chief medical officer said Friday.

Dr. Brian Hainline expressed cautious optimism that college sports could be played during the fall semester as long as leaders take a methodical approach.

“It’s not going to be risk-free, that’s for sure,” Hainline said in an interview with The Associated Press. “If this is rolled out in stages and reasonably, we’re really paying attention to proper surveillance and we get the tests available, I think we can have fall sports. My concern is if we just rush into this too quickly because of this almost sense of desperation, that we just have to get going.”

The biggest thing I'm latching onto there is "I think we can have fall sports," and just praying people smarter than this sports words blogger can figure out the stuff that came before it.

At the very least, I'm glad we're moving out of the doom and gloom seemingly everyone had a month ago and into cautious optimism. A lot changes in a month, let's hope the changes are even more positive than the last 30 days.

PUTTING IN WORK. Quarantine isn't stopping Trey Sermon from getting better. The future Buckeye starting running back's been putting in some offseason work, and perhaps most importantly, that leg injury is looking like a complete non-issue (even if running through cones in decidedly different than a human slamming into you at 20 miles per hour).

The Buckeyes are going to have two transfers starting in the backfield this season and I could not be more stoked about it. Everyone's talking about how Ryan Day's been lighting it up on the recruiting trail, but he's been owning the transfer portal as well.

I'm not sure there's a program in the country that's addressed team needs with the portal like Ohio State, and it's only been three players. Obviously you don't want to have to go to the portal, but I think every addition so far has genuinely made the program stronger in the long run, not just in the short term.

CONGRATS, NICK GRAY. Nick Gray's been a superstar on the for the Ohio State track and field team, breaking a record set by Jesse Owens. He also worked his ass off to get his degree, and even though he's graduating from his house, Good Morning America wanted to make sure he was properly celebrated.

Congrats to Nick and everyone else rocking caps and gowns in their living rooms. I know it's not how you all saw it going down, but it doesn't change your accomplishments.

NEW YEAR, NEW DRUM MAJORS. Folks, it looks like we've got ourselves some new drum majors for the Best Damn Band in the Land.

Congrats to Brayden and Kyle. I eagerly await watching you touch your feather to the turf, even if it's in a mostly-empty stadium.

NOT STICKING TO SPORTS. Great news – murder hornets are here... The 24-year-old who just received a $3.8 billion gift... A man arrested for trying to quarantine says it was a "tropical paradise"... A man was arrested 3 times in one day, given citations and released due coronavirus restrictions... How the CIA used culture to shred the iron curtain... A mass grave of elephant-sized sloths poses a murky mystery...
