Big Ten athletic directors, led by Gene Smith of Ohio State, want to kill the gamesmanship surrounding football injuries to protect the integrity of the game in the wake of the Supreme Court allowing states to decide the legality of sports gambling.

Their solution is to ask the NCAA to create a national weekly injury report akin to the NFL's, according to a report from Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports.

Smith added: "We don't know if we want to report as many days as the NFL, but clearly on Mondays if somebody is injured from Saturday and you know they're not going to play the following Saturday because they broke their leg, why not just say that?"

Why not say that, indeed? Though Urban Meyer has played coy with injuries in the past, it's only because opponents do the same.

According to CBS, it's "not clear" how soon the proposal could become permanent legislation.
