Ohio State women’s basketball scored more points on Sunday against Niagara than it had ever scored in a game before.

The Buckeyes defeated Niagara 130-32 on Sunday, breaking the school record for points in a single game as well as the largest margin of victory in program history.

Ohio State’s previous school record for points in a game was 119 vs. Idaho State in 1994. Its previous school record for margin of victory was 70 points, a mark the Buckeyes hit against Akron in 1977 (105-35) and Ohio in 2004 (107-37).

The Buckeyes’ record-scoring output on Sunday came from all over, as all 11 of Ohio State’s players scored at least six points. Each of Ohio State’s starters played 15 minutes or fewer, allowing the Buckeyes’ bench to shine; freshman guards Dasha Biriuk (25) and Bryn Martin (21) led Ohio State’s scoring effort, with sophomore guards Ava Watson (15) and Jaloni Cambridge (14) joining them in double figures.

Ohio State shot 61% from the floor for the game (52 of 85) while holding Niagara to 16% shooting (10 of 63). The Buckeyes forced 43 turnovers, their bench outscored Niagara’s bench 85-0 and Ohio State had 84 points in the paint compared to just 12 from the Purple Eagles.

The Buckeyes, who earned their first ranked win of the year on Wednesday by beating No. 20 West Virginia in the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship, improved to 6-1 on the season – with their only loss coming against No. 1 UConn – with Sunday’s victory. Niagara fell to 0-7 on the year.
