No. 10 Ohio State Mauls Minnesota 91-75 in Match Up of Two Top Offenses

Two top-10 offenses met in Columbus on Wednesday, but only one lived up to the hype as Ohio State mauled Minnesota 91-75.

Minnesota entered the night as the nation’s No. 9 scoring offense, averaging 87.9 points per contest. The Buckeyes effectively shut it down.

The Gophers put up just 75 points in the game, which is already well below their average, but 36 of them came in the fourth quarter, long after Ohio State had emptied its bench.

The Buckeyes held Minnesota to just 20 first-half points on just 24.3 percent from the field and 14.3 percent from three point range before the halftime intermission.

Meanwhile, the Ohio State offense lit it up. The nation’s No. 3 scoring offense entering the game, he Buckeyes shot 50 percent from the field on the game, scoring 91 points.

Stephanie Mavunga led the way for the Buckeyes offensively. She had a team-high 25 points thanks to a red-hot 11-for-15 performance from the field all in just 26 minutes of action.

Kelsey Mitchell, Linnae Harper and Asia Doss were also in double figures, all combining for 46 points.

Ohio State had the game well at hand before the start of the fourth quarter, outscoring the Gophers 74-39 through three quarters before Minnesota outscored the Buckeye bench 36-17 in the fourth.

With the win, the Buckeyes improve to 14-3 overall and 2-0 in the conference while Minnesota falls to 12-4 and 1-2 in the Big Ten.

Next up, Ohio State travels to face No. 21 Michigan on Sunday at noon.
