Will Howard’s exit from The Game was short-lived.
After keeping the ball on a zone read in the second quarter, Howard took a massive blow from Wolverine defensive back Makari Paige. The quarterback laid on the field for an extended period of time before being taken to Ohio State's medical tent as Devin Brown entered to convert a 4th-and-1.
A media timeout soon followed, and during the break Howard ran sprints and hyped up the Ohio State crowd. After a debate with the Buckeyes' trainers, he took his helmet back and re-entered the game.
The Buckeyes' drive stalled out and Jayden Fielding missed a 38-yard field goal. Howard returned to the game, but had his worst game of the season after the injury as he completed just 19 of 33 passing attempts for 175 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions in Ohio State’s 13-10 loss to Michigan.
Howard told reporters after the game that he was evaluated for a head injury but that he was “good enough to come back.̦”
