Another Ohio State defensive back has decided to explore his options elsewhere.

According to Hayes Fawcett of On3, cornerback Jyaire Brown plans to enter the transfer portal when it opens on Monday. Brown is the third Ohio State defensive back with intentions to transfer in this offseason, joining cornerback Ryan Turner and safety Cam Martinez. He's the seventh Buckeye overall to announce their plans to transfer.

Brown spent two seasons with Ohio State and figured to have an increased role in his sophomore season after starting a game for the Buckeyes as a true freshman. However, he became lost on the depth chart following a strong season from Denzel Burke, the addition of transfer cornerback Davison Igbinosun, improved play from Jordan Hancock and the emergence of freshman cornerback Jermaine Mathews Jr.

As a freshman, Brown appeared in 10 games and played the most snaps on defense of any true freshman Buckeye (197), recording eight tackles, three pass breakups and one forced fumble. His playing time starkly decreased in his sophomore season, as he only appeared in four games and recorded a single tackle.

Brown signed with Ohio State in the 2022 class as a four-star prospect and was considered the 24th-best cornerback in the country per 247Sports' composite rankings. He was in the same recruiting class as his high school teammate at Lakota West, offensive lineman Tegra Tshabola.

Brown is the seventh overall player to announce he will enter the transfer portal since the end of the regular season, also joining running back Evan Pryor, center Victor Cutler Jr., defensive end Omari Abor and kicker Parker Lewis.
