CorMontae Hamilton’s time with the Ohio State football team has come to an end.

Hamilton is not listed on Ohio State’s updated roster for the 2022 season, and an Ohio State spokesperson confirmed Thursday night that Hamilton is no longer playing for the Buckeyes.

A three-star recruit in the class of 2019, Hamilton began his Ohio State career as a tight end but moved to defensive end after taking a redshirt year as a true freshman. He played only 83 total defensive snaps in his two seasons on the defensive line, recording six total tackles with three tackles for loss and two sacks.

Going into what would have been his fourth season with the Buckeyes, Hamilton was unlikely to be any higher than sixth on the defensive end depth chart behind Zach Harrison, J.T. Tuimoloau, Jack Sawyer, Javontae Jean-Baptiste and Tyler Friday.

Hamilton has not yet entered the transfer portal, but would have three more years of eligibility if he chooses to continue playing college football.

Even with Hamilton’s departure, Ohio State is still set to have nine scholarship defensive ends on its 2022 roster, also including redshirt sophomore Jacolbe Cowan and true freshmen Omari Abor, Caden Curry and Kenyatta Jackson Jr. Ohio State also remains six over the 85-man scholarship limit with 91 players currently on scholarship.
