Bowling Green is back on Ohio State's schedule.

After last year's non-conference football game between the two schools was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ohio State is now scheduled to host Bowling Green at Ohio Stadium on Sept. 4, 2027, Bowling Green announced Wednesday.

Bowling Green becomes the second non-conference opponent on Ohio State's 2027 schedule, joining Alabama, who will play at the Shoe on Sept. 18, 2027, in the first leg of a home-and-home between the Buckeyes and Crimson Tide. Ohio State was also scheduled to play Boston College in 2027, but the Buckeyes’ home-and-home series with the Eagles has been pushed back and new dates for that series have not yet been announced.

Ohio State was originally scheduled to host Bowling Green in its season opener last year on Sept. 5, 2020, but that game was canceled when the Big Ten opted to play a conference-only football schedule. While Ohio State did not have to make the $1.2 million payout to Bowling Green that it was contracted to make for that game, athletic director Gene Smith said at the time that Ohio State would make an effort to reschedule that game for a future season.

The Buckeyes have already scheduled a new home-and-home with Oregon for 2032 and 2033 (and will still host the Ducks at Ohio Stadium this year) to make up for the game that was canceled at Autzen Stadium last year. Ohio State has not yet announced a rescheduled game against Buffalo, who it was also scheduled to host in a non-conference contest last September.

Bowling Green's 2027 trip to Ohio Stadium will be its sixth game against Ohio State dating back to 1992. Every game between the two schools has been played at the Shoe, and the Buckeyes have a perfect 5-0 record against the Falcons.
