Chase Young added another award to his trophy case on Wednesday.

The Ohio State defensive end was named Wednesday as the winner of this year's Ted Hendricks Award, which honors college football's best defensive end.

Young received more than 90 percent of the votes for the award, the largest percentage of votes that any defensive end has ever received for the award since it was first awarded in 2002.

“Chase's on-field talents as a pass rusher, his explosive first step and potential to disrupt plays were demonstrated throughout the season,” Hendricks, the award's namesake and a Pro Football Hall of Famer, said in a news release. “Those coupled with size, athleticism, fluidity in space and game statistics make Chase Young a well deserving winner of the 18th Annual Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year award.”

Young wins the award over fellow finalists Bradlee Anae (Utah), Yetur Gross-Matos (Penn State), James Lynch (Baylor) and Curtis Weaver (Boise State).

He becomes the first Ohio State player to win the award and just the fourth Big Ten defensive end to win the award, joining Michigan's LaMarr Woodley (2006), Illinois' Whitney Mercilus (2011) and Penn State's Carl Nassib (2015).

Young leads all college football players this season with 16.5 sacks, which is also a new Ohio State single-season school record, among 21 total tackles for loss and 44 total tackles. He also has six forced fumbles, three pass breakups and a blocked field goal this year.

The Ted Hendricks Award is the latest in a growing line of awards Young has already won for his performance this season, also including the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and Chicago Tribune Silver Football. He's also a finalist for the Maxwell Award and Chuck Bednarik Award, both of whose winners will be announced on Thursday at the Home Depot Awards in Atlanta, and for the Heisman Trophy, whose winner will be announced in New York on Saturday.
