The College Football Playoff Committee announced Wednesday that it had found a new man ready to lie to the American public about rankings when it tapped Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens as its new chairman.

He replaces Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt, whose term ends on Feb. 1.

“We are delighted that Rob will be stepping into this role,” CFP executive director Bill Hancock said in a statement. “He is an experienced committee member, extremely passionate about college football, detail-oriented and brings a high level of energy that is perfectly suited to chairing the committee.”

Mullens joined the 13-member playoff committee in 2016. He has been at Oregon since 2010.
