After hauling in another pair of honors, Ohio State sophomore defensive end Joey Bosa is officially a consensus All-American.

Bosa, who's the Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Year and Defensive Lineman of the year, earned the distinction after being named a first-team selection by the Associated Press, the Walter Camp Foundation, the American Football Coaches Association, and The Sporting News. He's the first Buckeye to accomplish such a feat since 2008.

Bosa, who leads the conference in sacks (13.5) and tackles-for-loss (20), is also a USA Today and CBS Sports All-American.

Ohio State plays Alabama in the Sugar Bowl Jan. 1.

Notes:

The Sporting News also named redshirt freshman quarterback J.T. Barrett and senior captain and defensive lineman Michael Bennett to its second-team. Both were named third-team selections by the AP Tuesday.

Barrett, the Big Ten's Quarterback of the Year and Freshman of the year, combined for 45 touchdowns this season. After being thrust into the starting role 12 days before the season opener, he guided Ohio State to an 11-1 record. He also finished fifth in this year's Heisman Trophy voting.

Bennett has 36 tackles, 12.5 tackles-for-loss and six sacks.
