The Buckeyes claimed both ends of 247Sports' first full 32-player five-star field for the 2027 recruiting class.

The recruiting service updated its 2027 rankings on Wednesday, with Ohio State defensive end commit DJ Jacobs retaining his spot as the No. 1 overall prospect in the class and wide receiver commit Jamier Brown rounding out the five-star field at No. 32.

Jacobs remains atop the rankings following a MaxPreps Junior All-American season at Blessed Trinity Catholic in Roswell, Georgia. In 11 games, the 6-foot-5, 235-pound edge rusher recorded 102 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 16 sacks and two forced fumbles. He also participated in both the Under Armour All-America Game and Polynesian Bowl as an underclassman, combining for two tackles for loss and a sack across the two all-star showcases.

The son of former Georgia defensive lineman David Jacobs, Jacobs committed to Ohio State on Dec. 29, 2025. The Buckeyes beat out his home-state Bulldogs for his pledge, along with fellow finalists Florida State, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Oregon and Texas A&M.

Brown, meanwhile, was Ohio State's first pledge in the 2027 class, committing to the Buckeyes on Nov. 23, 2024. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound pass catcher also earned MaxPreps Junior All-American honors after leading Wayne High School (Huber Heights, Ohio) with 73 receptions for 1,009 yards and 12 total touchdowns. Like Jacobs, Brown participated in both the Under Armour All-America Game and Polynesian Bowl, recording a 23-yard reception in the latter.

Brown chose Ohio State over offers from programs such as Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, Penn State and Tennessee. He told Eleven Warriors on May 10 that he shut down his recruitment and will sign with the Buckeyes in December.

The Buckeyes could add a third member of 247Sports' five-star field in running back David Gabriel Georges, who checks in at No. 12 overall in the updated rankings. Georges visited Columbus at the end of May and Tennessee the first weekend of June. The coveted running back will choose between Ohio State, Tennessee, Georgia and Ole Miss, with the Buckeyes and Volunteers being the favorites to land him, when he announces his commitment on July 22.
