A talented quarterback in the 2026 class was blown away by his visit to Ohio State earlier this month.

Georgia prospect Brodie McWhorter was among the many recruits in attendance for the Buckeyes’ spring game on April 15 and was impressed with the atmosphere of Ohio Stadium, which welcomed more than 70,000 fans on a fair-weather Saturday in Columbus.

“I really enjoyed my weekend in Columbus,” McWhorter told Eleven Warriors. “Being back on campus felt awesome. The thing that shocked me the most was the fanbase. For at least 70,000 people to show up and stay for a whole spring game really shows you who they are.”

While on his visit, McWhorter spent a good amount of time with Ohio State quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis, who laid out how the Buckeyes view him as a prospect.

“During my trip, I mostly talked to coach Dennis,” he said. “He told me he loves my film, but before they extend the offer, he wants to watch how I practice and get to know me more as a person, which I totally understand.”

At the moment, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound McWhorter holds two Division I offers from Florida State and USF. He’s received interest from various other programs, such as Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Louisville, LSU, Mississippi State, South Carolina and Tennessee.

In his freshman season at Cass High School (Cartersville, Georgia), McWhorter completed 65 percent of his passes and threw 20 touchdown passes with five rushing touchdowns.

Ohio State to host three transfer targets this weekend

Friday marks the start of an important weekend for Ohio State on the recruiting front, as three transfer portal targets are expected to visit the Buckeyes in Columbus this weekend: Former San Diego State offensive tackle Josh Simmons, former Ole Miss defensive tackle Tywone Malone and former Notre Dame wide receiver Lorenzo Styles Jr., who would play cornerback for Ohio State.

The Buckeyes view Simmons, who started 13 games at right tackle last season for San Diego State, as one of the most talented offensive linemen in the transfer portal and hope to make a favorable impression on him ahead of his scheduled visits with Florida (May 5), Colorado (May 20) and Texas A&M (date TBD).

“It’s an amazing feeling knowing a school like that is interested in you,” Simmons told Eleven Warriors. “Obviously, I have some other interests too, but we all know Ohio State is a premier program. They have a need (at tackle), and I just really want to learn about the culture. I feel like Ohio State’s football culture is second to none in the country. They have amazing support. And with coach Justin Frye, he’s about to have two starting tackles in the top 50 (NFL Draft picks). That’s something you don’t see every year.”

Styles would have a chance to team up with his younger brother Sonny in Ohio State’s secondary if he chose the Buckeyes, with the Styles brothers last playing together defensively during their time at Pickerington Central, a high school located 25 minutes southwest of campus and downtown Columbus.

Malone, a multi-sport athlete at Ole Miss, could add key depth to the Buckeyes' defensive tackle depth behind Mike Hall, Tyleik Williams and Ty Hamilton. In two years with the Rebels, he racked up 13 total tackles with two sacks and two pass deflections.

Harvey updates official visit schedule

One of Ohio State’s defensive end targets for the 2024 cycle has released an updated official visit schedule.

Four-star Maryland prospect Jaylen Harvey has three official visits scheduled for June, with trips to Penn State (June 9), USC (June 17) and Ohio State (June 25) all on the docket.

Harvey is considered the 336th-best prospect and the 26th-ranked edge player in the 2024 class, and he picked up his Ohio State offer on Oct. 16.
