One of Ohio State’s top quarterback targets in the 2025 class will showcase his talents for various college coaches next month.

Ohio signal-caller Ryan Montgomery has in-person workouts scheduled for Jan. 19 and Jan. 26, as the rising junior quarterback hopes to give ample opportunity for any coach to watch him throw before the 6-foot-3, 200-pound quarterback narrows down his top schools before the start of his junior year.

Ohio State is expected to be among the schools attending at least one of Montgomery’s workouts. Montgomery visited OSU twice this season, including for the season-opening win against Notre Dame and the regular-season finale against Michigan.

“Despite the loss, I enjoyed the visit and the hostile environment in The Shoe for the game,” Montgomery told Eleven Warriors after his visit for the Michigan game. “I got to talk a little bit with coach (Corey) Dennis before the game. I also got to be right next to the quarterbacks during their pregame drills. Every time I visit OSU, I feel more and more of a priority for them. Looking forward to growing my relationship with them.”

Montgomery, the brother of OSU offensive lineman signee Luke Montgomery, also visited Georgia, Tennessee, Michigan, Penn State and other schools this fall. OSU offered Montgomery as a freshman, and with Colin Hurley reclassifying to 2024, he remains the only quarterback the Buckeyes have offered in the 2025 class. While the younger Montgomery is approaching his recruitment with an open mind and is considering all schools, he said earlier this fall his older brother continues to court him to Ohio State.

“Yeah, I’d say so,” Ryan said in October when asked if Luke is still adamant about joining him at Ohio State. “He also realizes I’m a completely different person than him and that I’m going to visit as many different places as I can. Especially at the quarterback position because each team is taking one a year and some teams will take one every two years. It’s that important of a position. But ultimately, at the end of the day, he keeps telling me that I know where home is. I’m taking it day by day and enjoying the process.”

Kamryn Jones picks up OSU offer

A new wide receiver target has appeared on Ohio State’s 2025 recruiting board.

The Buckeyes extended an offer to California prospect Kamryn Jones earlier this month, making him only the fourth wideout OSU has offered in the cycle. Other wideouts offered include Dakorien Moore, Winston Watkins Jr. and Jaime French. Jones received the offer from Ryan Day personally.

The Buckeyes were Jones’ ninth Power Five offer, with the other eight consisting of Oregon, Oregon State, Tennessee, Georgia, Louisville, Washington, Boston College and Nebraska.

In two games this season for St. John Bosco (Bellflower, California), Jones caught two passes for 80 yards and a touchdown while playing for one of the most star-studded high school programs in the country. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound wideout does not yet hold a composite ranking from 247Sports, but with his recruiting pedigree and size, he figures to be among the nation’s most-coveted recruits in the cycle going forward.

Thurman attends OSU practice Wednesday

One of Ohio State’s 2023 signees was present for the Buckeyes’ practice at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Wednesday. Four-star tight end Jelani Thurman made the 20-mile trek from his hometown of Fairburn, Georgia, to watch his future collegiate team prepare for its upcoming Peach Bowl matchup against Georiga. Sadly, Thurman was not sporting his famous Spider-Man costume, though.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound tight end is expected to be an early enrollee at OSU this winter, but will first play in the Under Armour All-America game on Tuesday. In Thurman’s senior season, he helped lead Langston Hughes (Fairburn, Georgia) to a perfect 15-0 record with 39 catches for 624 yards with 13 receiving touchdowns.
