Before descending upon Columbus, the members of Ohio State's Supreme '18 recruiting class have one final shot at glory under the Friday night lights.

BACK ON TOP

Before he headed to Columbus for his official visit on Saturday, Ohio State four-star quarterback commit Emory Jones led Franklin, Georgia, Heard County to a 48-21 win over Lamar County. The victory wrapped up the Braves’ fourth regional title in the last six seasons.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Jones showed why he’s among the nation’s top-rates dual-threat quarterbacks, as he tossed a pair of touchdown passes and ran for another score. His 12-yard touchdown scamper put Heard County ahead 13-0, while an 80-yard bomb in the second quarter broke open the game wide open and gave the Braves a 34-7 halftime lead.

Heard County will return home next week for the final game of the regular season, where it will remain through the first two rounds of the state playoffs.

THE FORGOTTEN TREASURE

Ohio State four-star running back commit Brian Snead also made the trip north to campus on Saturday afternoon, which actually marked his first game since committing to the staff nearly a year and a half ago.

First, however, Snead rushed for two touchdowns and added another through the air on Friday night to lead Seffner, Florida, Armwood to a 28-6 win over Hillsborough. He finished the game with 17 carries for 146 yards.

The Hawks’ defense, meanwhile, has only allowed 36 total points (four points per game) this season, despite having to play six games in a matter of 20 days earlier this month. They wrap up the regular season next Friday.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Ohio State five-star tight end commit Jeremy Ruckert scored three touchdowns on Friday night to help Lindenhurst, New York, finish off its third-consecutive undefeated regular season with a 31-6 win over Ward Melville.

The 6-foot-6, 238-pound Ruckert held back his emotions throughout Senior Night to haul in eight receptions for 129 yards and the aforementioned three touchdowns. He also added five tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and one field goal on the evening.

“I wanted to really make a statement today and make as many plays as I could,” Ruckert told reporters after the game. “They kept giving me the chance to do it and I kept going up and trying to make a difference.”

Now that the Bulldogs have avenged last season’s only loss, which came in the state semifinals, they’ll look to capture their first title in school history in the coming weeks.
