DJ Carton has captured his first award as a Buckeye.

The Big Ten named Carton as its co-Freshman of the Week for his performances in wins against Kentucky and Southeast Missouri State. He splits the award with Indiana's Armaan Franklin.

Carton played a key role in the Buckeyes' victory against the Wildcats on Saturday, quashing the team's turnover woes while scoring a team-high 15 points, making 5-of-6 shots, grabbing five rebounds and blocking three shots. He also had 10 points, five assists and five rebounds versus Southeast Missouri State.

This season, Carton's averaging 11.1 points, 2.9 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 22.7 minutes per game. He's shooting 53.5 percent from the field and 38.2 percent from beyond the 3-point arc.

Carton and the Buckeyes will return to action against West Virginia in Cleveland on Dec. 29.
