Andy Katzenmoyer, Ohio State Legend

Katzenmoyer was a dominant linebacker for Ohio State from 1996 to 1998, becoming the first true freshman to start at linebacker in school history. Over his three-year career, he racked up 256 total tackles, 50 tackles for loss, 18 sacks, and six interceptions while starting 37 consecutive games. His freshman year was especially explosive, recording 12 sacks – three in the 1997 Rose Bowl alone. From his time in Pasadena on, Katzenmoyer quickly became one of the most feared defenders in college football – and for good reason.

In 1997, Katzenmoyer won the prestigious Butkus Award and the Jack Lambert Trophy, both given to the nation’s top linebacker. He was a consensus All-American that year and earned first-team All-Big Ten honors in each of his three seasons. His impact was so significant that he was later inducted into the Ohio State Varsity Hall of Fame and named to the school’s All-Century Team. Following his college career, Katzenmoyer was selected No. 28 overall in the 1999 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots.

So join Big Kat and Eleven Warriors' biggest supporters for this exclusive Q&A with a Buckeye great!
