AS Monaco have reportedly agreed to a fee of 180 million euros to send starlet Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid. The Champions League semifinalists have denied any deal has been reached, however. It is likely that Mbappe will end up at Real Madrid due to Monaco being unwilling to send him to Ligue 1 rivals Paris Saint-Germain. Further, the 18 year old striker was unwilling to make a move to the Premier League, with Los Blancos being his preferred destination. The signing will break Paul Pogba's fee to Manchester United by roughly 70 million euros.
In 44 games last year, Mbappe scored 26 goals and dished out 11 assists to help Monaco secure the Ligue 1 title. Although the transfer fee may seem astronomical, Madrid have made roughly 90 million euros from the sales of striker Alvaro Morata and fullback Danilo. In their eyes, 70-80 million euros of a loss is essentially nothing when you're securing one of the greatest, if not the best, young (really, really young) talents in all of football.
If the deal becomes official, Monaco will have sold Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy, Bakayoko, and Mbappe to other football powerhouses, with Thomas Lemar and Fabinho also rumored to be leaving.
