1. McCord can ball when Day takes the reins off the passing game. McCord started 1 of 5 when we were running vanilla stuff out there. Kyle finished the remainder of the game 18 of 23 for over 300 yards and had a couple dimes against a decent Maryland defense. He did the same on the last drive against the Irish. Just unleash this passing offense from play one and go. 

2. This defense is a top ten unit. We held a very good Maryland offense to 3.97 yards per play — that’s an extremely good showing. Further, 7 of Maryland’s 17 points were on a short field after that punt debacle. This defense showed up and played well. Need some improvement from the LBs but this defense has a lot of potential. 

3. Maybe a game with 1.9 YPC is what forces Day to blow up the running offense and start over; or, maybe it’s what causes him to return to a 2018 style offense where the short passing game is part of the running game. Either way, it can’t get any worse, and this the type of game that forces you to reevaluate everything. 

The first half was certainly frustrating but a 20 point win against a 5-0 Maryland team is a solid result.
