There were a lot of memorable plays from this game, but the one that will be burned into my retinas for eternity is not going for it up 38-27. It was 4th and 1 at the UGA 34. Day initially decided to go for the fake punt but Kirby sniffed it out and called timeout.

There is zero question that Day still should have gone for it and brought Stroud back on the field. Why? Because Ohio State had a 100% success rate on "need a yard" situations.

1:56 1Q -- 3rd and 1 at OSU 34 -- Williams run for 4 yards

0:14 1Q -- 3rd and 1 at OSU 47 -- Stroud pass to Ebuka for 13 yards

12:30 2Q -- 2nd and 2 at UGA 2 -- Williams TD

4:24 2Q -- 4th and 1 at OSU 35 -- Stroud gets first down but called back for penalty

10:37 3Q -- 3rd and 2 at UGA 10 -- TD pass to Ebuka

8:51 4Q -- 4th and 1 at OSU 35 -- Punt

Up to that point in the 4th quarter, when Ohio State absolutely needed a yard, they got it every single time.

If you want to win a national championship you have to go for the jugular when you have the chance. Not just in the first quarter, but the entire game. At the time of that 4th and 1, ESPN had OSU as 95.7% probability to win the damn game.

Go for it, drive down the field, win the game, and book your flight to LA. With TCU waiting in the wings, a title was on the table.
