No huddle offenses were synonomous wirh hurry up offenses when they first came in vogue. However most no huddle offenses have evolved into very slow meerkat offenses where the offensive playcaller tries to use all the playclock to get into the perfect playcall for the defensive alignment he thinks he sees. That is basically what Ryan Day wants to run 90% of the time.
When you have a very talented offensive team, I believe that an uptempo offense is going to perform much better against better defenses with good defensive coordinators. The last 2 games seems to bear this out with the very poor offensive efficiency forcmost of the last two games. Be the aggressor and keep the defense on its heels. Allow the offense to maintain a rythm.
This past week, our offensive production suddenly turned ariund when we went uptempo after falling behind by 5. We put up a whole lot of points in a hurry when we picked up the case. On a side note, when Stroud is theowing downfield at this point in the season wirh the wrs and stover, the offense cannot be stopped. We stop ouselves by working so hard to force the run game and wr screens. We play into the hands of defenses that gamble and load the bix and line of scrimmage. Let the downfield game loosen things up to set up the run game and short game.
I am interested in watching how Tennessee fares with their up tempo game against a good Georgia defense this week. They did pretty well against Alabama and in their other bug matchups. They have been consistently unstoppable all year. Ohio State did great in up tempo the last time we played Clemson. It has been hard to watch us have so many empty drives the last couple of weeks. We have been quite stoppable.
Go up tempo and unleash Stroud and the downfield passing game. With all the parts this offense has, it should be just as efficient and high scoring as the Tennessee offense regardless of who is trying to defend us. We should be the top offense in the land. We should truly be unstoppable.
