Thanks as always for letting me post here.

Quarterback

Well we all know what Clifford is this being what seems like his 10th year as starter.  Sometimes we get "Good Clifford" and sometimes we get "Bad Clifford"  All you have to do is look at the highlights of the Minnesota game to see both on display.  Sometimes he throws darts to receivers for TD's but sometimes we see him overthrowing receivers (look at his first interception) or throwing up 50/50 prayers and his receivers bail him out (see Parker Washington TD catch).  The plan with Allar seems to be a redshirt year without it being a redshirt year.  He'll play only if it's a blowout - he seems to get in most games.  A weak link on the team that hopefully changes when Allar starts next year.  At least we're not totally devoid of talent at QB like Notre Dame, aTm, Auburn and Iowa to name just a few.  An elite QB can mask deficiencies in other areas and we just don't have that right now.

Offensive Line

This is like the plague that can never seem to get fixed.  But it has gotten better this year.  It's gone from abysmal last year to slightly below average this year.  Olu Fashanu is the star at LT.  The rest are average and RT Caeden Wallace is the weak link.  Help is on the way in 2023 with two studs - Birchmeier & Williams but that won't help this Saturday.  Are they good enough to allow us to run the ball?  They weren't against Michigan and probably won't be good enough against Ohio State.

Running Backs

Lots to be excited about here with Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen.  What both of these studs has done is amazing considering the OL woes.  The last time I recall PSU having two running backs like this was the early 1970's when we had Franco Harris and Lydell Mitchell. (I know, I'm old)  Both of those guys went on to have great NFL careers.  We'll be a force at RB as long as Singleton and Allen are with us.

Wide Receiver

We don't have "that guy" that can bail us out when we need a big catch like we had with Allen Robinson, Jahan Dotson and Chris Godwin.  But Mitchell Tinsley, Keandre Lambert-Smith and Parker Washington are a decent group - slightly above average.

Tight End

Definitely a strength.  Brenton Strange and Theo Johnson are excellent and Tyler Warren is solid - well above average group here.

Defensive End and Tackles

This is a decent group but thin on depth.  Robinson, Mustipher and Isaac hold their own and young studs like Dani Dennis-Sutton are getting playing time.

Linebackers

All of our good LB's are either true freshman, redshirt freshmen or sophomores.  Bodes well for the future with guys such as Curtis Jacobs, Abdul Carter, Kobe King and Tyler Elsdon.  Talented but prone to mistakes as happens with young players.  SR Jonathan Sutherland has been a disappointment.

Secondary

Dare I say it?  Elite.  Let by Joey Porter Jr and Tig Brown this is an excellent group.  Kalen King, Zakee Wheatley and Keaton Ellis provide the supporting cast.  I'm looking forward to see how they do against Ohio State's elite receivers.

Special Teams

We had to go into the portal to pick up punter Barney Amor who has performed admirably.  Jake Pinegar has been solid as placekicker.

Summary

Penn State is a very good team but not an elite team.  They can beat anybody in the BIG not named Michigan and Ohio State.  But all that means is that they are the tallest of the 12 midgets.

The fanbase has resigned itself to this being a probable loss to Ohio State.  But there is no shame in that.  In my opinion, Ohio State is the best team in College Football.

Considering before the season most of were expecting an 8-4 season, they have outperformed expectations.  It certainly looks like a 9-3 or maybe even possibly a 10-2 season.

We have our delusional fans like every fanbase.  We have about 10% hoping for a 2016 miracle where we got blown out by Michigan and then beat Ohio State.

Could it happen?  Sure.  But I wouldn't bet on it or predict it.

I'm just hoping that unlike the Michigan game, we keep it somewhat competitive.
