Tressels, Fickells, Urbans, Days, Johnsons and Days,

I was in Manhattan for work earlier this week.  I've been going there fairly consistently for the last 20+ years, essentially the same amount of time I've been writing this weekly Ohio State football prediction.

It still didn't happen.

I didn't see one person wearing Rutgers garb.  In fact, I saw only one person even wearing any college gear - and take a guess which team that was. The team's mascot is a poisonous nut.

I didn't have one conversation about Rutgers football.  The only time I talked about college football at all was when I forced Ohio State football into the conversation, which quickly fell off with my disinterested parties.

That part of the country doesn't care.  They are singularly focused on professional sports, not college football.

If we go a little north of there, I don't believe New England cares very much either.

I wonder if when he was growing up in New Hampshire, Ryan Day ever dreamed about being a part of the Ohio State football program...coaching or playing. It seems like a stretch that he did.  But, you can tell from his press conferences that Ryan Day very much gets it.

Let's come back closer to NYC; the land where college football doesn't exist.

I wonder if Jim Knowles when he was growing up in Philly dreamed of coaching for Ohio State.  That also seems improbable, but from some of the things Jim Knowles has said when available to the press, you can tell he understands the importance of Ohio State football to many that did not grow up in his neighborhood.

Ohio State is in good hands with these non-native sons.  You can tell they are pouring everything they have into this program.  They seem to know something special is going on.   A mid-season "thank you" to these fantastic coaches.  I'm seeing the same thing they are seeing.  I'll hold every game to 66-0, 77-21, 52-21, 49-10 and 49-20 context and I still know that's dumb. But, I think it's there this season.  I'm still in.

Touchdowns: Miyan, Emeka Egbuka, Marvin Harrison Jr., Marvin, Julian Fleming, Cade Stover

OSU 42 Iowa 10

Go Bucks! Beat Iowa! Josh Proctor for Heisman!
